Any Day Now

This morning while out having my coffee on the patio (with Peeper of course), I noticed my Trumpet Vine is ever so ready to bloom and just had to take a few shots of it.

If you look closely, you can even see a ladybug. Boy my camera sure is working good this morning because this branch is at least five feet over my head.

Within a few days, our vine will be filled with orange flowers shaped like trumpets. I love this vine and so do the humming birds. Believe it or not, this huge guy only got it's leaves maybe two weeks ago. It is very late in blooming, but when it does, it's flowers put on quite a show. And of course when it's in full bloom I will post it up here on my blog.

Some Dessert....And Fire

After a busy day here on Peek-A-Boo Street my husband said that he would grill dinner. Us ladies have to be thankful for summer and for our wonderful hubbies who love to grill. So glad that I did not have to deal with din din tonight. But I did manage to get my grocery shopping done earlier today and I treated my family to a quick summer dessert.
All you need is just three, yep 3 ingredients, and your good to having a happy family.

1. Individual Shortcakes
2. A tub of thawed frozen strawberries
3. Cool Whip (the REAL Cool Whip)
*That's it!!

Meijers (my favorite grocery shopping store), had these wonderful pink strawberry shortcakes. I have never seen them in pink, only the ordinary color. The shapes were a little different as well. But these little desserts go back to when I was a kid when my Mom use to make these for my sister and I. The desserts back then were made with such love and simplicity. Think about it. Jello was a dessert to me.
As the evening wore on, we decided to hangout by the fire.

The East And The West

Hello fellow bloggers. I cannot believe that we are now in the month of September! Oh my gosh, I'm going to be getting my Halloween decorations out next month. Oh my. But I am ready for fall. It's always so nice to welcome in a new season. I feel so blessed to be living in the North area where we see all four seasons. I wouldn't want it any other way. Their all beautiful. But as I've mentioned here before, winter is my all time favorite. Snow storms, snow storms and more snow storms. Looovvvee them! I love getting all snuggled in with a warm beverage in my mug, looking out the window and just waiting for the first flakes to begin floating down from the sky. So absolutely no beautiful southern beach could lure me away from my northern home town.

Okay I'm talking about the north and the south. The other day, after a short rainfall. So short the ground wasn't even wet, looky what my son and I seen to the east....

Then look what we seen to the west....

Calling All Chocolate Lovers!♥!♥!

This is not a post for the weak. Oh no. This post is calling for all chocolate lovers to the plate.

A lot of my family members do not like chocolate cake. So whenever we have a celebration, I have to keep those folks in mind. But I knew during my summer break, I was going to go all out and bake me an all chocolate cake. Yes sir~re. This is not a post for the wishy washy folks who won't go near a good ole chocolate cake. But that's ok. More for me! =)

Just look at this luscious, scrumptious looking cake! Oh my goodness! The frosting looks so Divine. I can't wait to cut into this and have a slice. Also, my chocolate cake is the very first cake to set upon my new cake stand. I've always wanted one of these cake stands and now I have one. =) Just click on the photo to see this beautiful cake. Mmm. Chocolate cake. I can't wait to bite into this. All you vanilla flavored people don't know what your missing. On second thought yeah...stick with vanilla cake. ;)

Oh, don't mind the pooch. Don't even give her a second thought. She's just mad because dogs can't have chocolate. Sorry Peeper. Really I am. She's also upset about the rain storm. I just tucked her in so she'll feel better. Okay back to my cake!

Oh my gosh! Who got to my chocolate cake?! I swear! I didn't eat it all!!

Hmm. I think I might have a closet chocolate lover here on Peek-A-Boo Street. I can't think of a single soul who might like chocolate cake. Could it be......

All Tuckered Out

This is exactly how I felt this morning when I woke up...



This half deflated balloon was the remnants of my kids birthday and pool party, left over from yesterday's party. (sigh)
Oh my gosh. I was so tired this morning. Last year we got a new pool. So I'd thought I'd throw my son a birthday party this year with a bunch of his pals.
Gee, I didn't realize of the energy and stamina that I would need to get through it. I thought I was prepared and organized and ready for the party. I could have been a little more organized but I just didn't think of all the other issues that would take place.
For one, my husband was sick. So I was stuck hosting the party alone. We had almost ten kids and I had some family there as well. Thank goodness my family members were there to help me because I was really struggling to keep on top of things.
First I was so afraid that the morning rain was going to ruin the party.
Then I had to greet each parent and child as they were arriving.
The kids swam for the first two hours which was some what calm in spite of a boy being stung by a bee, kids having to pour in and out of the house to get changed, and having to some what dry off, to use the rest room. Oh my. We had to put ice on the boys bee sting and call him Mom just so that she was aware of it. A couple of the kids didn't want to swim anymore.
Then I had to serve the pizza. My oldest children picked up the pizza thank goodness because my husband was sick in bed. Of all days. All the kids needed to have their pops opened.
My son opened his gifts. I don't even know who got him what. But we're still sending out thank you cards.
Then we sang him happy birthday and had cake and ice cream. So I had to serve everyone that. Thanks to some of my family who helped me with that. I did get a lot of help from family. But I really needed my husband there but he was ill in bed. I needed him to lean on and it just wasn't going to happen. Because even though their family, their still guests and you don't want to have to have them help with your party. So I felt bad about that.
I was so busy watching the kids in the pool, I couldn't' visit with my family who were present. I could not take my eyes off the kids in the pool. And it was hard when kids would have to go inside to use the restroom.
Then we started the games so that the kids could win their prizes. And one boy slid down the pool latter and hurt his ankle. We had to ice that and call him mom to come pick him up. So the games had to stop because we had to deal with that. I called his Mom this morning and she said that he's doing fine.
Then we started them back up again. And the party really started to get fun again with that. The kids swam for the last 15 minutes while waiting to be picked up. So again, you had to greet the parents, get address for thank you cards, make sure kids got all of their belongings and loot bags and pixie sticks. Oh my.
There was a point in the party when I felt like I was being pulled in a million directions. I just wanted to burst into tears. I tried to wake up hubby because I needed help so desperately. But he was out like a light. But when I got back outside. I was better.
Oh did I tell you that I had a big graduation party for my oldest son last weekend? Oh dear. No wonder I had a headache today. I couldn't sleep in, I had to go to church this morning.
It's a rainy day today. All is calm. House and yard are trashed but the hard work is done.
Will I ever do the pool party thing again? I don't know. It was a lot of work. I know it sounds like I'm complaining, but let me tell you. My son and his pals all had a fabulous time. They are oblivious to how the hostess feels. My son got a lot of nice gifts from his friends and family. So we got to get our thank you cards out to them as well. Looking back, there are a lot of things that I could have done differently. If I do this again, I will have to remember those things. I did the best I could. I have to leave it at that.
And this is how I'm ending my day on this rainy evening...



This tea, never tasted better. It's was exactly what I needed. So warm and tasty. Ahhh. No more parties for awhile. And NO cake! Have a wonderful and restful Sunday evening.

Tomorrows The Day

Well tomorrow morning, bright and early, my family and I will be in attendance to see my son walk across the stage to get his high school diploma.

The cap is ready to go. And the gown has been pressed. For some reason, the color looks purple, but it's maroon.

How excited we all are. I can't believe the time has come for my son to be graduating from high school.

It takes a lot of work, commitment and dedication on the part of the child and the parents to see this day come about and unfold before their eyes.

I'm wishing, that time will stand still, for just a moment, for my son, myself and family as my son walks across the stage and takes hold of his hard earned diploma. There will be young adults before him and after him to receive their diplomas. So I really do just want to take in the moment that he receives his diploma.

A little note to my son;

Mom & Dad, are so proud of you. We love you. We are so blessed and so lucky to have you for a son. You really are an awesome person with a great personality. You have grown into such a bright and handsome young man. Well you have always been a good looking kid. =) Mom & Dad...and your family, wish you the best in all of your endeavors through life. Off to college you go boy. You have to buy your mama some pink furry slippers

(personal joke)! Now see, I'm getting all teary eyed. =)

Good morning! Look at what I woke up to this morning. Wasn't this a spectacular sunrise? The weather man is calling for rain today in my neck of the woods. You wouldn't know it looking at this sunrise.

What a great way to start off the day. Well also with a good hot cup of coffee makes the morning nice to. =)

Celebrate Good Times...C'mon !

Celebrate good times, c'mon! And indeed, we will be celebrating big time! My second born son will be graduating from high school this June. And the party is going to be right here in my own back yard, here on Peek-A-Boo Street! Have you seen my countdown on my sidebar?

I know it seems a bit early, but with such a huge event coming, you can never plan for such a party to early. I only have 9 more weeks till the party on June 19. In fact, why don't I just extend an invitation out to all of you now to come join us! C'mon! It'll be fun! And I'd love to meet all of my blogging friends. Wouldn't that be fun? But really there is so much to do.

Today I started doing some shopping for the decorations. No, the pictures below were not taken from the store either. That's my dining table downstairs! But as you can see. I think I got pretty much all of the decorations covered. His school colors are maroon and white.

We got balloons, signs, ribbons, beads, confetti, flags, etc., etc...

Did you notice that t-shirt above. It reads, "Having no class, isn't always a bad thing." I just loved that so of course I had to get it. I hope my son will wear it. But I think he will.

I started my guest list. So far, we got about 50 people. And I have to get going on the invitations to. They have to sent out in early May.

I told you last year when my youngest son made his First Holy Communion and then the very next day, my daughter gave birth to my second grandchild, that we do things with a bang around here! I don't know if I can top that off this year but my youngest son will be having his birthday pool party will a bunch of his friends the very next weekend after the graduation bash! The following weekend will be already the fourth of July weekend. The weekend before the graduation bash will be my sons graduation commencements. I don't know how to prepare for that. Will I cry? But anyway, yeah, there will be about four weeks of back to back partying around here on Peek-A-Boo Street! Just giving you all a little heads up, if you don't see me posting for awhile after that, you'll know why! I'll be enjoying my summer break!

Now I just have to convince my hubby when he walks through the door that this stuff is very much needed and not junk, lol! That husband of mine, I'll tell ya. Na. I'm just teasing, he's the sweetest and the best!

I Had The Best Childhood!

As I stated before, April is child abuse awareness month. As you know I do write about children's safety every now and then on my blog. There are a lot of reasons why I am so passionate about the well being of children. It comes with maturity. From books I've read. It comes from my Catholic religion. It comes from the innocence of a child. It comes from the injustices that are afflicted on children. It comes from the abuse of children I hear from the media. And it comes from the fact that I was a child myself. And it comes from me being a parent myself...now a grandmother. And it just seems like we all know someone who was touched by it. And perhaps I'm so passionate about children safety is because my parents divorced when I was eight. I'm sure that plays a role. But it's not the only reason like I just stated above.
Many of you are probably wondering if I was abused as a child. No I was not. My sister and I were very blessed to have a loving mother and a father. There was never any abuse inside my family. Yes, unfortunately my parents did get divorced when I was eight. But the first eight years of my formative life, was stable and loving. After the divorce, life got difficult for me over the next twelve years. Especially when I entered into my lovely teenage years. But when I got married to my husband 20 years ago, my life became stable for the first time since my parents divorce. I am very happy and of very sound mind. And I thank God for that. I have wonderful memories of my childhood before my parents divorce. And I thank God for that to.

I'm not to sure why this picture was like this because I'm so careful of all of my pictures. And there is moi, with the blonde hair, sitting on top of one of my friends shoulders. No, he doesn't look to happy does he? Lol.
Anyway, I just didn't want anyone who reads my blog to think that I was an abused child because I'm such an advocate for children. Plus, just in case any of my family members were to read my blog, I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings in anyway in thinking that I was misinforming you, my readers. I don't know if any of my family members read my blog, but I just wanted to set the story straight. But I am in no way trying to act like I know how abused children feel or even know the hell that they go through. I'm just here to say on my little ole blog that I care for children's safety. And I will try to do my little part in the world to keep them safe!

Goodbye Peek-A-Boo

Hello blogging folks. We got some bad news yesterday. My son's hamster Peek-a-boo died. We'd thought we'd pay a little tribute to the poor girl. When I began blogging, I asked my family for help in naming my blog. My husband came up with Peek-A-Boo Street after my son's hamster's name. So that is how I came up with the title to my blog. She's been sick for some time so my son knew she was going to die. She's been sick for the past few months. Hamsters only live for three years and June would have been three years.

It was kind of sad. My son filled up the space with some of his stuff where Peek a boo's cage use to be. But he's ok for the most part.

So with that....we salute you Peek a boo! (salute) You had a good run!

I Don't Want To Say Goodbye..........

I just can't believe summer is over. For some reason this year, I just don't want to let go of the lazy warm days of summer. I'm talking about a gal who loves winter to. Winter is my favorite season. Snow blizzards and all. But for some reason, I'm finding it to hard to get into the fall festivity mode and theres only days left of September. Reluctantly I got up all of my autumn decorations around my home. I even changed my blog over to autumn. Wanting to let go of summer or not, unfortunately it's officially over until 2010. It's like the shrubs outside don't want to let go of summer either.....









Oh I just couldn't resist clipping and bringing in the last of my flowery bounty from my yard.......



They look kind of funny sitting on my autumn tablecloth. But this is it, until next summer..........................

My second grader son came home from school the other day with this little surprise in his backpack. I just love it and I wanted to share it with my friends here in blog land. If you click on it, you can see how it glistens on the snow. It just put a big smile on my face when I seen it. I will be keeping this one for his keepsake box. I'm going to put it on my sidebar of my blog.

Peek-A-Boo Time

Peek-a-boo finally gets the spotlight. After all these months of blogging she finally gets to be the star of her first post.
Last year my son wanted a hamster for his birthday. And I came up with the name Peek-A-Boo, and my son agreed it. When I was asking my family members for a name for my new blog...what does my dear hubby come up with? You got it! Peek-A-Boo Street. My hubby was the one who came up with the name for my blog. I do get a lot of compliments on my blogs name. So if you were wondering how I came to name this blog, that is how. I can not take credit for it. Although kind of I guess because I did come up with the name for the hamster. Then I later found out that it was the name of the famous skier. I didn't know that Street was her last name so I was thinking of changing the name but decided against it. It just seemed like a catchy blog name. And cute and I like it. Thanks to my hubby.
Well to get on with the show. Peek-A-B00 is the funniest little hamper. Even though I got stuck cleaning out her little cage, I've come to like this little rodent. She's very entertaining. She just loves the wheel in her cage. But the darn thing rattles so badly and it's in my office. Ugh! As you can tell in the clip, I've used masking tape to hold the wheel closer together to try and stop it's annoying rattling. When it gets to be to annoying I'll stick Peek-A-Boo in someone elses room in the house and boy do I hear it! "Get this thing OUT of my room!!!!" Just between you and I, I just chuckle as I'm typing away on my computer. =) After all, Peek-A-Boo needs love from ALL family members, right? Right! But as for now, she's back in my office this morning and the silly thing will try to ride her wheel sometimes from up on top. I wanted to tape it to show it to you. Sorry for the grainy picture though. I might have been to close or had not enough light.


Well there you have it! Ta da! Okay, now. Where should I put this thing. I think I'll just set this little cage gently over here and hope no one will notice....... =)

I found this picture. These flowers are from my Trumpet Vine that I have in my backyard. I was just beginning to blog late last summer. I was just playing around with my new digital camera. I do have this picture on my sidebar. The colors are so pretty and vivid. I forgot about the pretty colors of summer with all this snow we've had so far this winter. It's hard to believe that these pretty beauty's will be popping up again. One day...

Just For You....

You can talk the talk but can you walk the walk? Yes my fellow bloggers. I took some winter pictures just for you. I always talked about the snow we are always getting, but I haven't shown you any pictures as of yet.

Don't mind the close to zero temps and me having to trudge through a foot of snow and rolling down a hill, with soaked wet pants for you. Oh no, fellow bloggers. I didn't mind one bit. I wasn't able to get as many for you, which I'm sure you'll understand, with the freezing temps and all. Oh and may I add that I'm just getting over a little cold? It's so cold school may be canceled tomorrow. My poor little, almost frost bitten nose......Okay, okay, I hope you know I'm just kidding with you all. =) But here are a few pics from a local city park. If you click on them they will enlarge. I personally found some flaws in the pics but I wasn't going to be to picky with them this time.

The next ones were taken the other morning after another snow storm. When you get so many snow storms they kind of just blend into each other. I don't know the exact date. It was over the weekend I think. It was taken from my window. I know it was of the ground, but if you click on the picture, it looks like little diamonds in the snow.
