Going Bananas

Good morning. I don't know if I'm a health nut but I have always tried to live a healthy life style. When I was in my early 20's after having my my baby, I found out that I had high cholesterol. I inherited it from my father's side. Which means it was still high with diet and exercise. So I have been on Cholesterol medicine for quite some time. I'm in my early 40's now.
Last week I got my test results back and my numbers where up again. =( It's my fault though. I was slacking on the exercise part and slacking on bad food choices. Everyone slips. So the past two months I have been making better food choices and I have been exercising again. I don't have to much of a weight issue but I could stand to lose some weight. My weight hasn't budged. =( But I'm trying to stay focused on better food choices and working out then losing weight.  Hopefully I can shed a few pounds in time.

For a few weeks now, I have been eating a small plate of fruit for breakfast. I call it my three fruit breakfast. Every week, I chose different fruit. I can get at least four meals before I need to go to the store and purchase more fruit. This week it's these little oranges, black seedless grapes and sliced apples. But what I wanted to show you all though was these little bananas I found...

I've never seen these before so of course I just had to add them to my three fruit breakfast which would make it four, lol. Even the cashier lady was like, "What in the heck?" My family was saying the same thing when they saw them. I tried them this morning and they do taste like little bananas. Their a little darker in color when you take the peel off. I did have to use a pair of kitchen scissors to snip the tops off. Have any of you seen these little bananas before?
Well now that I've had my three four fruit breakfast, I'm off to go do my workout. Running/power walking on treadmill and then some jump roping outside. Sometimes I think my treadmill is going to kill me first. That things a monster! I tell my daughter that and she just laughs.
I'm wishing you all good health!
I'm signing off..........from Peek-A-Boo Street!

  3. Those look like the same kinda bananas we get when we are in Sri Lanka. They have quite a different taste than the bigger bananas we normally buy produced by Dole and Chiquita. High cholesterol and heart disease runs in my dad's side of the family. He had bypass surgery at the age of 45 (I'm 46 now) -- which is why I changed my eating habits at the age of 39 and started exercising. I've had my numbers checked several times over the years and so far everything seems okay. I am hoping that either I will be the lucky one and skip the heart disease (my dad and all his brothers and sisters but one had stints, heart operations, heart attacks ....) or that my lifestyle changes have helped to keep everything in check. Only time will tell. You should have a protein after your workout (like nuts) -- helps your body to recover and aids in weight loss. Happy August! Tammy

Looks good. I need to start doing that! I've seen those little bananas at the grocery store before, but I was afraid to try them. I didn't know if they would taste the same or not.

I cherish each and every comment. Thanks for visiting Peek-A-Boo Street.
Peace & Love, Anne
