Getting Ahead Of Myself

I'm so excited! I love starting new projects especially ones that I've never tried before. I feel like I'm on an adventure or something and I just like to learn new crafts. You have inspired me and I'm going to try some embroidery. I think I might have tried it once before but I never purchased what I got today. I bought some iron transfers for these new vintage dish towels I got. Here are some pics.

These are Aunt Martha's 'Bruno the Bear' transfers. Aren't they cute? I just fell in love with them....

A close up of the one I want to do first, 'Wash Day.' It's so adorable it's making me smile....

I will probably need more, but here is the colored floss I've chosen. So colorful, cheerful and bright...

And these are the vintage towels. I love the color I've chosen...

I hope I got the right sized needles. And I will have to go check out YouTube to learn a thing or two. But anyway, before I can begin this I do have to finish my roses cross stitching project. It is almost finished. I just have to go around and do the back stitching and I will be all finished. I want to show you all when it is done. So I do get a little ahead of myself but I do like to line myself up with some other project when I get close to finishing one. I also do that with books. I will go out and buy one when I get close to finishing one. Sometimes I can be bad about that and end up not reading the darn thing. Thats' why I have a drawer stuffed with books I was suppose to read.
A lot of the time I like to do hobbies that I can pass onto my great grandchildren one day. Hopefully they would like to have them. I wish I had some hand made things that my Grandmother's made.
I just had to show you my newest project.
It has finally cooled off today. We got some rain for the first half of the day and it looks like the sun is starting to come out. It's 83 degrees and it's much more bearable, thank goodness. I'm so happy we finally got some rain too.
I'm signing off.........from Peek-A-Boo Street!

    1. I found all of my supplies and JoAnn Fabrics. The dish towels came in a pack of three for $8.99. The towels also came in blue, red and like a rainbow color. Thanks for visiting. =)

Love those patterns.. where did you buy them? Also are those real vintage towels or look like ones? You do have my interest pricked :-) can't wait to see the finished towels.

  4. Hi Pat. I got all of the supplies at JoAnn Fabrics. Not sure if you have one in your area. I would think any fabric store would carry them. Maybe Michael's craft store too. Yes the towels are new. The package just calls them vintage towels. I'm so excited to start them.

  6. You have an ambitious project, but I think your tea towels will be lovely. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  7. I admire you! I have tried several times to cultivate this skill, and I'm just plain lousy at it. My grandmother made wonderful treasures that I cherish. I don't know whether it's my left handedness or just plum lack of talent, but I really don't do it well.

The tea towels will be so pretty. I hope you show the finished project.

  8. My mother taught me how to embroider when I was a very young girl. I love doing it. I really like the patterns you have picked and will be looking forward to seeing the finished product. Have a blessed day. Madeline

  9. I wish we could get those iron on transfers here. I would like to embroider, too. Bought some tea towels at Ikea the other day. If I don't do embroidery, then I will get waste canvas and maybe cross-stitch something on them. I have so many projects on the go at the moment. I sort of have ADD when it comes to making stuff. Look forward to seeing your rose stitching. I used to do such big cross-stitch projects with lots of detailed backstitching -- now I look for easy projects, preferably with one color. :) Have a great day! Tammy

  10. Lovely! Sweet idea to stitch vintage towels. I love it!
I used to do cross stitching, but it's been years now, and with all the little grands around I don't have a minute to myself anymore. So I'm going to live through your hobbies for a little bit!

Also, I liked your Snow Village and Christmas ornaments ~ very impressive!

And your tray came out beautiful! Was the spray paint really that easy to work with? I have a few outdoor furniture pieces I'd like to do over, but I'm so nervous of making a mess, with drips and with white paint sprayed all over everywhere but it's intended target!

    All the best,
    Eileen

    1. Hi Eileen. I used two cans on the tray. The spray cans worked fine for the size of this tray. I painted it directly on the grass behind garage. You really do need a big scrap of wood or a big piece of cardboard. Not cause I was worried about the grass but because bits of grass was sticking to the tray and I did have to touch it up a bit. I noticed that the spray paint didn't work well with with this other little tray I got because the grain of the wood was to deep and the paint just was not covering it.
