A Thrifty Book Tip

Hello everybody. I just wanted to share a little thrifty tip with you.

I just love to read, as I'm sure there are alot of people out there who do. But as we are well aware of, or...... maybe it's just me, books can be very expensive.

I've seen some books at the thrifty stores. But none that caught my eye. I seen some at the Salvation Army that were good priced but only a couple had caught my eye.

So I went to used book stores and they were selling them for over $10 for hardcover. Not much of a deal for used books.

Well.....hellooooo! I went to my local library. Bingo!!!!!

-Hardcover $1.50

-Softcover 50 cents...

*Note* I just paid for a years subscription on National Geographics. One of my FAVORITE magazines. I got a swell price for $15. w/ a world map.
-magazines @ the library 25 cents!

Hey, so what if I read September's in October!!!! I'm a slow reader anyway. It takes me a long time to finish a book. I'm jealous of folks who can zip through a book in a day or two......like my DAUGHTER!!! I'll give her a book and the next day she'll call and to say that she finished the book. She's a mother of two small boys at that!

-One plastic bag full of books that have a red dot on the binder for $1.00!! Yep, can you believe it?! Hello! Where have I been?!!!! I need to get with the program!!! I've been spending to much time at Barnes and Noble and Borders! So please, visit your libraries for used books to purchase.

At the library I found these two old cookbooks. One was from 1977. I know, I know. But these are time worn classic recipes. And this book was chalked full of 500 recipes and 150 pictures. You just can't find recipe books like this anymore. Where every recipe looks good. The cookbooks they have out now a days, lets face it, you only get a hand full of recipes out of them that you will use. That's why I picked up 'The Family Cookbook.' These books by the way were in fabulous condition.

Also I picked up Better Homes and Gardens, New Dieter's Cook Book. I mean every single page has a photo and recipe on it. The picture I took of the book doesn't show how thick and solid this book is.

There must be at least 300 recipes w/ photos in it!

All of the recipes look so yummy that I can't believe that this book is called The New Dieters Cook Book.

Yep, and these two cookbooks were only $1.50 each.

Was I there at the library looking for cookbooks?............well no. I was looking for short stories, classic literature and poems. And they did have a lot. But none that caught my eye. But how could I pass these two beauties up?!

Talking about beauties........look at this big beauty...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmhmm. Okay. Confession here. So I did get this at Border's. You know how I've been liking that strange ole' Poe guy. When it said 'COMPLETE' tales & poems for...................$7.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! (Gosh, not God, lol!) Well by golly. I could not pass by this steal of a deal!

Border's.........you rock!!!!!!!!! Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Yay. I got this in the BARGAIN section. But you know what? That is good enough for this little ole' lady! Oh by the way. Just a little tid bit. Did you know that October is dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe? Found that out also at my local library.
