Hello! Even though we're into the evening hours here on Peek-A-Boo Street, we are not cooling down at all. If anything, it's getting warmer. My air conditioner doesn't even feel like it's working. We have our service set up where the billing company interrupts our air at intervals on really hot days like this. It's suppose to save money but it's making the house heat up so much. It's also suppose to prevent black outs when everyone has their air cranked up at the same time.
Anyway, I've seen some bloggers with little lamps on their kitchen counters and I just liked that idea. It adds that extra warmth to their kitchen. So I have been keeping an eye out for one at the thrift stores. I wanted one with a colored lamp shade to add some color to my kitchen. I finally came across something I liked but it did not have any color. The shade and the base is made of glass. But when I seen this pretty little thing for $7.99, color didn't seem to matter all that much any more. This one will do until I can find another one with a splash of color.
But doesn't is look nice? It does give the kitchen a little glow of warmth. It will be nice during the fall and the winter holidays and not so much on hot July nights!
I'm going to try and find a new finial for it though. I got the cord hiding behind the coffee pot.
This basket holding two of my hen in a nest dishes were all thrift finds. See the green one up on top? That's why I'm linking this post up to Fiona's @ Raindrops and Daisies for Green Day #3. This will be my second time joining so I hope I do it correctly.
Now with all of this warmth and aglow talk, I'm outta here. It's getting hot in here and I need to go jump into the pool. Like now.
I'm signing off.........from Peek-A-Boo Street.
I do like your little lamp and it looks good even without a color shade. I have always had a lamp on the countertop and it does make it so cozy.
ReplyDeleteI have a lamp on my kitchen counter too! And I do like it's soft light.
ReplyDeleteI think your lamp is perfect just the way it is! I love how the glass shade reflects the light, it looks so pretty on the tile backsplash. Very nice!
'Love your hens too! I have a big collection of hens, chicks, and roosters, but now most of them are boxed and put away, and I am just working up the nerve to give them away. I am trying to purge my home of almost all knick knacks (very hard to do!).
Thanks for the visit!
All the best,
Eileen
i like your cute little hens in baskets. :) thanks for coming over from green day!
ReplyDeleteHi Anne....Oh, love your little lamp. Just darling. Heard it was horrendously hot in Michegan. Oh, so sorry to hear that. Today it was hot but not unbearably so. I cannot stand it when it's so hot my clothes stick to me. Times like that feel like I jumped into a vat of maple syrup.
ReplyDeleteWell, hope it cools down soon. Susan
It is a pretty little lamp.
ReplyDeleteYour lamp is so pretty. It gives off just the right amount of soft light. Thanks for visiting me from Green Day.

Love your lamp!! I too like a light in my kitchen so I've always kept a night light plugged in a socket and turn it on at night, makes it easier to see where your going when you want a drink of water in the middle of the night.
ReplyDeleteI heard you guys got up to 110 yesterday.. it's hot down here too.. been up to 112 so far.. I think we all will be glad to see the snow fly again.
