I Surrender

Well, all of you blogger's out there in blog land have inspired me again. And that's not hard to believe. There are so many creative and talented bloggers out there. You don't even have to buy any magazines for inspiration, just browse blog land and you'll definitely be inspired. I'm sure you all can agree.
I've seen on many blogs these cute flag banner's you all have been making for parties and such. And I have been bitten by the blog bug and surrendered in trying to make a flag banner myself.
These flag banners just look so festive for any party or occasion. I thought I'd make some Americana flags. That way I can pretty much use them all the way to Labor Day weekend.
I don't do much sewing. But I do know the basic skills. As long as I keep my projects easy, I'm in pretty good shape. So what do ya think?

The only thing I did not like about this project was the cost. It cost me almost $20 in material. Sewing I found can be very expensive. And like I said, the projects I do are very easy.
I won't bore you with all the steps but I'll tell you a few. This project took me two days to do. Although it could take one if you had nothing happening in the same day. My flags are double sided. Maybe that's were the price came into play. You can kind of see, in the last pic that I sewed the ends to make a little loop. We already had nails in the wall for our Christmas stockings. =) I also used some stock paper to make a triangle template. I used my sons chalk from his chalk board to trace it onto the wrong side of the fabric (See...kids come in handy). =)
Then I was going to add some of this daisy trim on the flags but I didn't have enough. =(
When I went back to the store, they didn't have anymore. Just this spool alone was $6. To me that's alot of money. And you don't even get that much. You get 6 ft. I know that sounds like alot but it's not. Not even for little projects.
Isn't this trim just the cutest though. I was going to start another little project today, but the trimming was more than the material. I mean give me a break. It's not worth making anything when the trim is more than the material.
But anyway. I did enjoy sewing again and had fun. And I felt very creative. I made something. Thanks you all for the inspiration!

  1. Hey Anne,
Your flag banner is adorable...you did such a great job! That trim is darling too, but I do agree with you.... that does sound expensive I think too. Trim seems to always cost alot...I try to find it at yard sales when I can...sometimes I luck up and find a bag. I can't wait to see what project you decide to use it for. :)

I love your little flower boxes,in the post down below... at first glance I thought they were faux desserts lol, but then I saw what they really were from the side pics. Too cute! Girl,Your china cabinet that you got is gorgeous and so are the treasures you displayed inside! I wish I could find something like that :)
Well, I sure did enjoy catching up with you....that sunrise is awesome...love those. Our sunsets often look that way.

Well, I'll be going now...thanks so much for your compliments on my kitchen...I really appreciate it. :) The color you have in mind sounds pretty...just go ahead and go for it!
    Have a great week!
