Hey Alice, What's the Scoop?

Alice In Wonderland that is.
I'm still reading.......

I'm just loving this book. Here I thought I was going to read about tea and this book has really broadened my horizons in so many other directions.
Of course, Alice In Wonderland came up in the book.

I hate to admit it, but I'm forty and I don't really know to much about the tale. I know, I know, I can here you all the way over here on Peek-A-Boo Street. And I never did see the animated 1951 Walt Disney movie either. I would like to. Hey laugh all you want, it's never to late! =)
So I went to my little handy-dandy world wide web to find out the scoop on little Alice and here is what I found. I thought it pretty interesting.
Charles Lutwidge Dodgson was traveling by boat with three little girls...Lorina, Alice and Edith. He was bringing the girls to there father who was, Henry George Liddell. He was Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University and Dean of Christ Church in Oxford, England.
On the way, the girls asked to be told a story. And Charles obliged in entertaining them with a tale about a girl named Alice who was going on an adventure. The girls liked it so much, they asked Charles Lutwidge Dodgson to write it down for them.
Apparently, most of the book adventures were based on people, situations and buildings in Oxford, England. The "Rabbit Hole" actually came from some stairs from inside Christ's Church located down the hall.
So the book was written in 1865. It is about Alice who falls down a Rabbit Hole into a fantasy world with peculiar creatures.
The tale is liked by children and adults. The first entire print sold out and is still in print today! Among the first readers of this book was....you guessed it.....Queen Victoria!! I found that pretty interesting. Also the young Oscar Wilde. Oscar Wilde has now totally peaked my curiosity! His name is also in this tea book I'm reading.
You can get the whole synopsis here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice
This is where I accumulated all of this great information from. And it's loaded with all kinds of info on Alice In Wonderland. I would also like to find this book and read it.
Now I feel like I know the scoop a little better on Alice In Wonderland. The book though is actually called, Alice Adventures in Wonderland. Whereas the movie from Disney is Alice in Wonderland.
I hope you all enjoyed my post! I hope you have a great cup of tea on this fine beautiful spring day!
I'm signing off....from Peek-A-Boo Street!
(This is my 200th post, yay!)
