I love the weekend.......

Yesterday for the football game, I made a few snacks.
Smokie kabobs...

So easy to make. I just added little smokies, chunks of pineapple, an olive, with a cube of cheese on top of toothpicks. Here's the recipe.

Then I made Touchdown Puffs.

Very easy to make. It's just Bisquick with some chopped pepperoni and green onions, which I forgot. You can dip it in some honey mustard. Here's the recipe.

That was Saturday. This is Sunday.......

We love Sunday's around here. It's the day of rest. The Lord's day. I was going to add our brunch we had after church but I forgot to take pic's. I guess I was to hungry to think about taking a picture. I hope you all had a great weekend!
I will be taking a break from blogging. I've been blogging for a year. And it's something that I have been thinking about for awhile now. I'm not sure for how long. But it will probably for some time. There a no hardships in the time being. But just feel that I need to take a break because I'm not giving my blog and my fellow bloggers 100% of my time right now. I have met some really wonderful people here in blog land. I wish I could meet you all in person. You all have visited my blog, time and time again and left really sweet comments and have been wonderful fans of my blog. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I truly loved reading your comments. They have all meant so much to me.
I will change my blog as the seasons change to try and keep up with it. I will stop by your blogs every now and then and see how you all are doing and with that, I may or may not leave a comment, but I will try sometimes. I might even post once in awhile but not to frequently.
And I do keep all of your needs in my prayers. Because you ladies are my blogging friends. I hope you will take the time to view my favorite blogging friends and to reach out to them. Because they truly are wonderful ladies with unique talents and I know that you will enjoy their blogs, as much as I have. With that........
I'm signing off.............from Peek-A-Boo Street! (salute)

Pilgrim Hat Cookies

Of course I'm really busy with Thanksgiving in a couple days. Today I decorated my Christmas tree, ran up to Baker's Square and got three pumpkin pies and then I made my son some little pilgrim hat cookies to take to school tomorrow. I thought these were such a cute idea. The cookies looked quick and easy to put together. My son is having a little Feast at school tomorrow with his little class mates. So I'd thought I'd take a picture to show you. If you click on the picture, it should enlarge. Here is the website that will show you a video on how to make these cute little pilgrim hats. But first you have to watch a short commercial. http://familyfun.go.com/utilities/global/feature/fftv-archive-video-player/fftv-archive-video-player.html?video=pilgrim_hats I hope you all have a blessed and the very best Thanksgiving with your loved ones this year! Now I have to go pick up my little guy from school soon and then, I get to cook my lovely family din-din. Work...work...work...But I love it. No complaing here.

Homemade Potpourri~

I'm participating in the "Exploration of Cider Mills & Apple Orchards" over at http://charliandme.blogspot.com/ I am writing this post for that. Here is the button you can click on or there is the link above to join in on the fun! You can go there to get all of the details.

At this time of year I like to bring on the smells of the season indoors. One way I like to do that is by simmering some of my homemade potpourri on my stove top. And I promise, it will make your home smell wonderfully. Mm...can't you just smell it now? As you know the potpourri that is sold in stores are nice but very pricey. So I make my own. And it works just as good if not better. Here are the ingredients;

- An old pan or pot that you probably won't be using anymore.
- 2 1/2 cups of water
- A few whole Cloves
- A few whole Allspice Berries
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 2 dashes of Nutmeg or fresh Nutmeg
- 2 slices or orange or apple

I let that simmer on low with the stove fan on and I will begin to smell it very quickly through out my home. Yes you do have to keep and eye on the pan. I stir it when I'm walking by. But also you will have to check to see if you need to add more water to the pan. It doesn't look pretty after is simmers for awhile but I will reuse it the next day and it works just as good as the day before.
Really you can add or omit what you do and do not like in this simple potpourri recipe. It really depends on what your favorite scents are. I've been a housewife for 18 years now but never thought to do this but just a few years ago. What about you? Do you have a favorite homemade potpourri recipe that you would like to share? I would love to hear your ideas! Leave a comment!
