Did you hear?! A movie called 'Titanic 2' is coming out. Everyone is wondering....Titanic 2? How can you have a Titanic 2 movie? What else is there to say? The damn ship sunk. Everyone is saying to watch the trailer of the movie to get the gist of what it's all about. So lets take a look together. Just click the play button.

Oh my gosh. This is totally ridiculous in my opinion. I ♥ the Titanic movie. It is my favorite movie of all time. When I heard it on the radio this afternoon in the car that Titanic 2 was coming out, I just had to see what this was all about. I can tell by the trailer that I would not like this movie. I first thought, "Oh my gosh! Is Kate Winslet and Leonardo DeCaprio going to play in it?" Come to find out no. I don't want to see this movie. Thumbs down for me. What do you all think?

Calling All Chocolate Lovers!♥!♥!

This is not a post for the weak. Oh no. This post is calling for all chocolate lovers to the plate.
A lot of my family members do not like chocolate cake. So whenever we have a celebration, I have to keep those folks in mind. But I knew during my summer break, I was going to go all out and bake me an all chocolate cake. Yes sir~re. This is not a post for the wishy washy folks who won't go near a good ole chocolate cake. But that's ok. More for me! =)
Just look at this luscious, scrumptious looking cake! Oh my goodness! The frosting looks so Divine. I can't wait to cut into this and have a slice. Also, my chocolate cake is the very first cake to set upon my new cake stand. I've always wanted one of these cake stands and now I have one. =) Just click on the photo to see this beautiful cake. Doesn't it look good? Just look up Peek-A-Boo Street and come on over for a slice.

Mmm. Chocolate cake. I can't wait to bite into this. All you vanilla flavored people don't know what your missing. On second thought yeah...stick with vanilla cake. ;)

Oh, don't mind the pooch. Don't even give her a second thought. She's just mad because dogs can't have chocolate. Sorry Peeper. Really I am. She's also upset about the rain storm. I just tucked her in so she'll feel better. Okay back to my cake!

Oh my gosh! Who got to my chocolate cake?! I swear! I didn't eat it all!!

Hmm. I think I might have a closet chocolate lover here on Peek-A-Boo Street. I can't think of a single soul who might like chocolate cake. Could it be......

Captain Phil Harris

Omg! Have any of my readers been watching Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel?
Captain Phil Harris died!
Oh my gosh, that was so sad. I started watching the show a couple of years ago. I just can't believe that Captain Phil Harris died. He was one of my favorite captains. He will defiantly be missed.
At first I was wondering how the show could go on without him. But now that the initial shock is fading, I think it can. His legacy through his two sons will live on. I hope his two sons Josh and Jake take over the Cornelia Marie. That was their father's boat. I hope the crew comes along to.
Who would of ever thought that that would happen during a running season of the show. And for the Discovery channel to be going along with what was happening was really something to. I mean they taped it in a dignified way for the family. Also I'm sure that the family had the last say if they were going to allow Discovery channel to broadcast it on t.v. But like I said, it was a nice tribute to Captain Phil Harris.
He was only 53. He had two strokes. The doctors said it was from all of the smoking the captain did.
Gees. Who would of thought that he was going to die. It was such a shocker. He died last February. I'm just finding this out now as the show was being broad casted from last winters crab season.
There are tons of websites out there to look up Phil Harris. But I went to the Discovery channels website and they have a lot of info on there. Here's the link if any one's interested. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/deadliest-catch/ There are literally thousands of people writing in the forums and leaving well wishes to Phil's sons. So many people are mourning his lose. I couldn't believe it. The ratings are skyrocketing like crazy. I just can't wait to see what happens next season now.
It's just so eerie how Captain Phil's stroke happened right at the end of the season and then he passed away with his second stroke before the show aired there season finale.
R.I.P. Captain Phil.
Have any of you been watching this show? I would really love to hear your comments.

Hello...

Just dropping in and hoping that you all are enjoying a very splendid summer day. It's an overcast day here on Peek-A-Boo Street. So I think I'll take my tea outside and catch up on some of my summer reading. It's nice and peaceful out here. I hear my son swimming in the background and the birds are chirping and I have my sweet little miniature schnauzer, Peeper laying beside me under the table. What a beautiful day. I hope your day is just as easy going as mine is.
Peace & Love, Anne

Basket Of Flowers

Hello fellow bloggers. I am so happy because I love how my last sewing project turned out. I'm so proud of myself. I'm becoming quite the little sewer. All of these projects that I have made lately came with no patterns either. So don't mind if I pat myself on the shoulder. Plus, I'm not much of a sewer. You all have inspired me to do a little sewing.
I mentioned in a few sewing posts ago, that I came up with an idea that I would hope will inspire you this time.
Is this you? Pockets stuffed with socks, shirt stuffed with more socks, oh dear, their are four more pairs of socks. One under each arm pit and the other in my mouth. My arms are full and I'm lugging all of these clean socks up the stairs! Oop...fell. Oh there goes another. And so on and so on until you leave a trail leading to your families room to put their socks away.
Well I wanted one of those oval baskets and I found one thrifty shopping one day for $4.

I washed it out real good with water and set to dry. Then my wheels in my head started turning and wondered how I could spruce this basket up a bit. I knew! I was going to make a cover for it with material. I knew that I wanted pink and white gingham.
Well I couldn't find the fabric that I wanted so I landed on this pink with white daisy fabric that was just the look I was looking for. And of course, you know how I just love adding ruffle to my sewing projects so I chose white eyelet for the ruffle. I thought that it would hold up more than a lace. I just can't wait to show you. Here is my finished project. Isn't it nice?
Side view.

View looking in.
I started off with 2 yards of fabric but only needed one. So I got another yard of this fabric which I love. I can't wait to use it for another project some day. Not sure for what yet.
So this is how I cut the fabric yard. Yep it looks rather silly but I didn't have a pattern and I just eyed balled it. Yet it was a little nerve racking without a pattern. You don't want to mess up when you spent money for the material. I did make sure before I cut it that I had enough fabric to sit at the bottom of the basket nicely.
Then I sewed the hem with elastic band inside of the hem. I forgot to use one of those elastic slider things you add to the elastic to slide in through the sewed hem. So yeah, it took me two days to get the elastic through the hem. I didn't want to take out the hem and have to pin it up again.
After I sewed the hem, I found out that I needed another two yards of ruffle, so back up to the fabric store I went. And thank goodness, they had more of the same ruffle. I was happy about that. But the ruffle alone was $12 dollars for four yards. What's up with this expensive ruffle thing? Gees. So darn expensive. I'm going to have to start watching for sales and bargains. This stuffs expensive. It was more for the ruffle than it was for the fabric! Good heavens. Can't a girl get a little ruffle to add to her projects?
Before I gathered the elastic through the hem, I sewed the ruffle on first. Then gathered up the elastic through the hem which took me a couple days.
But I did it. Once I gathered the elastic through, I sewed it. Then I closed the ruffle on top of it and sewed that down over it.
And voila! My basket of flowers is done. I wish I would have left a little more material for the bottom of the basket so it fit just a little bit better. But I think the fabric will stretch over time. Also if it gets dirty, you can just take it off and wash it on gentle cycle. This was a very easy project and it would have been done with in a day if I was to use one of those elastic sliders.
My dog Peeper has one of these baskets but on a smaller scale. Wouldn't that be cute to make one for her toy basket with a dog paw fabric or a fabric with dog bones on it or something?
I do have another sewing project in mind. But I need fall fabric and haven't seen that out yet. But when I finish it, I will be sure to show you all.
Have a nice night. We got another full moon over here on Peek-A-Boo Street.
Speaking of which,
I'm signing off.........from Peek-A-Boo Street!

Thrifty Business

Hello you all! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer at a leisurely pace. I thought I'd stop in and show you all of my thrifty goodness that I found this week when I was out doing my thrifty business. By the way, if you have read my previous posts, just letting my readers know that all is well with my health issues that I spoke about. So anyway, here are my thrifty finds for this week. I literally spent maybe $30 dollars for all of this stuff.
These glass candle sticks I instantly fell in love with them because of the color, obviously. Their gorgeous. When I got them home and washed them up, I noticed that one is a little taller than the other. But when you have them setting on opposite sides of a table, who's going to notice? I ♥ aqua. It's my favorite color.

Look at these little salt & pepper shakers. So cute. Tried to clean the tops with silver polish cleaner but it didn't work much. But I still like them. The patina gives them a little history. I will probably start using them in the fall through the holidays. There maybe three inches tall.

I do have a small collection of antique white knick knacks. I don't know really what to call the stuff. But when I seen this lovely box with the flowers on top, I just had to pick it up.

I seen these cute little plates. I could probably use them for tea time for my little treats. Or a used tea bag. Their maybe 2 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter. Their really small. I just love the carnations on them. I also love the color combination of pink and gray, always have.

I actually got this a couple of weeks ago but I forgot to post it. Again, it's a very small bowl and I will probably use it for little treats during tea time. I just love the little daisy's around the inside of the bowl. So pretty and dainty.

This bowl I couldn't resist with the roses on the front and the back. I did notice a little chip on the top when I got it home. But I'll still use it.

The back...

This bowl I liked the basket with flowers. Photo turned out a little blurry.

This little knick knack is similar to the one I just purchased. Again, I couldn't pass it up. Just look at their eyes. This cost 99 cents. When I got home and checked the receipt. It read .09 cents. The register lady must have thought she pressed the nine button two times but didn't. And because all collectible where 50% off that day, I got this cute knick knack for only 5 cents. Yep you heard me right. 5 cents.

I loved these little glass plates. Not a scratch or knick on them. I could use them for dainty cookies or something.

This is my favorite find for this week. When I seen it, I knew I wanted it and didn't care how much it cost. It yells out vintage doesn't it? Not a chip on this beauty. And the picture does not do the color of this plate justice. It really is pretty. So was the price...$5.

I love salad size plates because you can use them for desserts and for serving dishes as well. I'm always on the look out for these types of plates. Not looking for pairs either. I want them all different. Even if I do see a set, I'll only grab one and that's it. The bottom left one is a peach color.
This is a full size plate. I'm starting to get into different full size dinner plates to. But, I want them all different. No sets. I just loved the vintage look to this floral pattern.
This is the size of a salad plate but these fancier ones I think of them as dessert plates. And I'm always on the look out for these as well but have such a hard time finding these in my neck of the woods. So when I see one that I like, I jump at them. Again, this is done in the pink and gray color combo that I like so much.
So there you have it. Like I said, I paid like $30 dollars for all of this stuff. This is stuff that I will use. All of my thrifty stuff that I get, I use. Even the tea cups. Someone asked me if I use the the collectible tea cups. Heck yeah. What's the point of buying all of this stuff if your not going to use it or display it. I can't wait to use my platter plate up there with the silver handle. It's so pretty.
Hope you all are enjoying some lazy days this summer sipping on some iced tea. I ♥ summer. Ahhh.....
Oh yeah....

No Ones Going To Throw Mary In The Corner

Hello fellow bloggers. This is some what of a sequel of my last post.
After I got some good news referring to my last post.... I thought I'd go shopping. You know, to make a girl feel better. All of you bloggers out there who know me know that I mean thrifty shopping. Today is Friday. I could not let a week go by without thrifty shopping. So with that, here are some of my thrifty finds for this week.
I found this knick knack of the Mother Mary under a pile of stuff at the thrifty store. It was so dirty and full of dust. Oh no Mary, You're coming home with me. No one throws the Blessed Virgin Mary under a pile of rubble.

Let's see. What else do we have?
Yes, turkey's! Thanksgiving turkey's. Aren't they adorable? Like I said before with purchasing holiday stuff. It's a bummer because you have to pack it away to the following holiday. But you watch ladies. Your going to see this pair of silly turkey's come November.

My blogger friends know that I have started a little collection of these flower boxes. I almost put this down. But how could I resist this flower box that's heart shaped. The pic is turned to the side for some reason. Can you see the heart shape?

Then my eyes rested upon this beauty. See how she's all pink?

The back....

The shape...

This is kind of unique. I've never found a tea cup with the name of the set written in gold print, 'Rose, Elegance.' It also has some numbers on the bottom.

I've been looking for small bowls that will hold little dainty treats for my afternoon treats for tea. These two in the top pic could hold used tag bags couldn't they? Their so little.

You know how I've been having my eye on small vases. This is approximately six inches in heighth. And it's so heavy. It was only $2.99.

My husband says that I have enough knick knacks. Look closely at this girls face on this blue and white knick knack. It was so adorable, I had to buy it. I think it was only $3.99.

And then look at this precious little knick knack. How could I resist. Just look at there eyes.

So sweet. I've grown really fond of children knick knacks that really show their innocence. Love this knick knack. And love their eyelashes.
Now tell me ladies. How can a girl have to many knick knacks? I tell you. You won't see one ounce of dust on them. No sir-re.
As I wen't to check out at the thrifty store, I noticed that today there was one big line. Then I noticed that some costumers were taking cuts and going into the other lines. Whatever. Didn't really bother me to much. I was the next in line. But this thrifty store is known for waiting in line for some quite time, by past experiences.
I turned to the lady behind me and told her that those other people were taking cuts in front of us. And her reply was, "Maybe their more in a hurry than we are."
I said "Yeah."
And she said, "You have the most beautiful eyes."
I looked at her and looked down and said, "Thank you."
This woman was an older woman but very beautiful. I wished I looked liked her.
I'm not the one to complain, but when I got up to the cashier, I told her that these sweet ladies and myself were waiting in this line and these other people were taking cuts. I also said, I don't mind but, they were.
The cashier lady said for my patience, she would mark the heart shaped flower box half off. Instead of four dollars, she charged me two dollars for it.
But what really caught my heart tonight was that lady who complimented me on my eyes. Not because I was being complemented. I guess because it was a complete stranger. She was very beautiful herself. Very friendly. Maybe she was an angel being sent to me. Isn't it weird how some people, just give you that sense of peace. You've never met them before. You probably will never see them again. But just for that fleeting moment...you wonder if that stranger realizes, that they have just touched your soul. I'm sure I haven't even run across her mind tonight. But she has mine.
I'm going to grab this frozen margarita that my lovely husband has made for me and enjoy this weekend. I do hope that you all have a safe and fun filled 4Th of July.
Peace & Love, Anne

A Little Nervous

Yesterday I was a little nervous about up coming events. I wanted to post about this yesterday but I was unsure.
As every woman knows, you're suppose to do a self breast exam every month after you have your menses.
(Sigh)
Well I did that and I felt a change. Don't know if it was a bump or a lump, but there was a definitely a change in my right breast on a Thursday morning. Saturday, I was throwing a graduation party for my son. I worked so hard for that and I just felt like it was going to be ruined now. Even though the party was a success, my issue was still in the back of my mind of course.
So come Monday, I made a appointment with my Gynecologist which was scheduled for the very next day. By this time, I wasn't feeling whatever I was feeling in my right breast as much anymore. Do I cancel the appointment? I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'm going to. (blushing) Also, I have this pimple like thing on my right breast. I was not to worried about that because I got one on my other breast last year. I think I might have washed my bras with bleach. My skin gets irritated with bleach sometimes. So I was embarrassed about this red pimple thing to. Ugh! My Dr. did not feel anything. So she lead me in the direction of a breast surgeon at my local hospital. My Gyn told me that breast surgeons deal with this sort of thing on a regular basis and know what to look for. She was sending me there because I still felt something sometimes and she could not.
So when I got home from the Gyn, I called and made an appointment with the breast surgeon for the following Monday. Ok. So I had my youngest sons birthday/pool party to get through on Saturday. Again, the party was a success but I still had this health issue in the back of my mind. I worked hard planning this party as well.
So again, I had to warn another Dr. about this breast pimple thing. Also just to get your breasts looked at is very uncomfortable. The breast surgeon was not bothered by the pimple thing. She said, as long as it goes away, that's what we want.
She checked me over thoroughly and told me that she was 99% sure that I did not have any kind of a lump. But to put my mind at ease, and for that 1% chance, she ordered me an ultrasound and a mammogram. But, if something should come up, I would need a biopsy. But the breast surgeon said that biopsies come back 77% of the time, non cancer.
Also, the breast surgeon told me that I was not in the high risk factor.
She told me first and foremost, "Thank goodness you quit smoking 14 years ago."
She also said that it was good that none of my female relatives had no breast cancer.
She also said that my weight was perfect. 116 lbs. She said that obese woman have a higher risk for getting breast cancer.
Also she pointed out that I had a baby at an early age (17), which gave me protection from breast cancer. Instead of 1 in 8, for me, it's 1 in 18 woman who get breast cancer. I forget what she said about that though. I think she said it slowed something down. A hormone or something. I can't think of it at the moment.
She said that I am doing everything possibly right in preventing breast cancer. Woman are suppose to get their first mammograms at the age of 35. So when I did have my mammogram at 40 (which you are suppose to have a yearly basis then), they had something to look back on. Something to compare it with. This is me speaking now. It is so important for woman to get their mammograms at 35. I know, woman think that their to young to worry about that but they need to take their health into their own hands so to speak.
The breast surgeon did put my mind some what at ease. Just the words 'breast surgeon' is a little frightening to me.
Today was the diagnostic mammogram and the ultrasound. So that is why, I was feeling a little bit nervous yesterday. All my fellow bloggers know me. So what did I do yesterday? I had tea!

I took my tea outdoors on my swing. It was so nice and relaxing. It really did make me feel better.
So. Today I had the mammogram and the ultrasound on my right breast. The results at the hospital said that no cancer was found and that nothing looked suspicious and to follow up with the breast surgeon next week for the full report. So I'm assuming that everything is going to be ok, thank God.
The breast surgeon already told me at my appointment that I'm to see her for the next year, every three months, just to make sure all is well.
So I feel like I am in good hands. My situation has been evaluated. I feel like I can enjoy the holiday weekend a bit more. (sigh)
I still want to hear it from the breast surgeon that all went well with the tests, but I think the results are going to be fine.
It's scary. It's very scary. I feel all alone even though I have loving people around me.
I am no different then any other woman. God loves woman who are diagnosed with breast cancer as much as he loves me if not more. How do I feel about woman who have breast cancer. I need to show compassion. Because I don't have the answers.
As I was sitting in the waiting room with all of the rest of the woman waiting for their mammograms or other tests to be taken, I said a prayer for each and every one of them. That no matter what my out come was, that they be cancer free. I'm Catholic. So you know there were a few Hail Mary's thrown in there for these woman whom God loves. Their just like me. Going to get there mammograms done. I also at one point said, "Okay Mother Mary. This one's for me." I also sang that Hail Mary song real slow when I was getting my test done. (The song I posted just a few posts down, in 'Pink, Pink, Pink.' I sing it all the time.)
As you can tell. Prayer can't hurt you in the time of need. But not to be done just in the time of need, but ALL times.
I hope, (sigh) that my little dilemma, will help other woman in seeking medical treatment if they suspect anything unusual for them when they are doing their self breast exams every month. And you should be performing that . As uncomfortable as it may be and is, please keep up on your breast health.
The breast surgeon warned me and told me that self breast exam is so important. No one knows your body like yourself. She also asked me if I check lying down to. I said yes. She said good, because that is so important and that she could not stress that enough.
My mind feels a little more at ease for the long holiday weekend. I will have to call the doctor later next week, but I think all is going to be ok.
Have a great 4Th everyone. (sigh)
We're just going to be taking it easy.
