Tea & Friendship Tuesday ~

Carol/Mom hosts Tea and Friendship Tuesday's at http://charliandme.blogspot.com/. And again, I thought I'd participate. Anyone is welcome to participate. You can go to Carol's blog and she will give you all of the details to participate. It's quite easy and fun. And again, she welcomes everyone and anyone.
I promised you all last week that I would show you my new tea cup that I found at the antique shop a few weeks ago. I went there looking for one and I wasn't going to leave without one, lol. I posted the pic below. Click to enlarge.

Isn't it pretty? It's a Royal Doulton, Lisa pattern. It's copyrighted in 1989, so it's only 20 years old. I looked the pattern up on the Internet and this cup and saucer is sold for $24.00. I paid $12.00. Yes I know, it's used, but there is not a thing wrong with it in my opinion. And I just love using old tea cups from ladies that have previously enjoyed these tea cups.

This one has silver trim which is something new to my collection. It also has baby blue trimming on it with little pink flowers. It's such a pretty cup. I also like the softness of the finish on it. I like how it's a cream color and not a white color. The baby blue also reminds me of my new grandson that was just born four weeks ago.

So my son and I made a treat to go with my tea today. He loves helping me bake and put all of the ingredients together. I always hear about tea & scones...tea & scones. I have tried my Mom's blueberry & apple scones with frosting and they were good. Her Devonshire cream that she made was really good to.

I think you know where I'm going with this. I made scones today. Just plain scones with Mock Devonshire Cream. And they both turned out really good. Although I liked my Mom's Devonshire Cream better than mine. She used Mascapone cheese in hers and my recipe didn't call for that, so maybe that's why. Hmm. I'll have to get that recipe from her, lol. So anyway, here's a pic of the scones and Devonshire cream.

But as you can see....there is no recipe that follows. I hate writing out recipes. It takes to much time. But this is your basic scone recipe that you can find in your Betty Crocker recipe book.
We also added a little bit of red raspberry preserves on top of the warm scone with a dallop of the Mock Devonshire Cream, and boy, was this ever yummy! I will definitely make these scones again. I'll being looking for another Devonshire cream recipe though. But the one I made was still pretty good. I'll write down the recipe for it because it's so short and easy. Now that's my kind of recipe! Here it is;
Mock Devonshire Cream
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup of sour cream
In a chilled bowl, beat cream until medium stiff peaks form, adding sugar during the last few minutes of beating. - Fold in sour cream and blend. Yields 1 1/2 cups
I got this little recipe in my Tea-Time at the Inn, book. A country inn cookbook. By Gail Greco. My Mom-In-Law got me this wonderful book for my birthday.
Well thanks for stopping in. I'm going to go ahead and just fill my new little tea cup up with some tea and enjoy another scone to go along with it. Happy Tea & Friendship Tuesday! I can't wait to read all of your posts!

Tea & Friendship Tuesday~

Carol/Mom over at http://charliandme.blogspot.com/ hosts Tea and Friendship Tuesday. So I thought I'd participate today.

Last week I went to my favorite store lately...the antique shop. I have seen these little miniature tea sets for awhile now. Well when I was there last week, I seen that they had this purple one with litte white dots. So I decided I was going to get me a set once and for all. It was so cute and darling that I just could not resist.

For right now I have it displayed on a shelf in my home office.

As you can see, it's a tea set for two. The next picture you can see inside the wicker basket that holds the tea set. You can see the spaces that were formed to hold all of the pieces very snugly.

If you look closely, you can see the forks up on top of the basket. I don't know if you noticed but I have the little spoons out for display with the little cups and saucers.

I just thought this was so cute and well I just had to get me a set. I did find other sets on the Internet and they said that Delton Tea Baskets are only for decorative use only. I thought that one day if I had a little granddaughter she could use it. But I come to find out that it is not safe for food or beverages. But it sure is nice and cheery to look at.
Happy Tea and Friendship Tuesday! I hope everyone is having a nice week!

Falling In Love~

I hope you all had a nice weekend. I meant to post yesterday but I got caught up doing housework. Monday's are my busiest days of doing housework. Everyone goes back to school and work and I'm busy getting my house back in order from the weekend. I do most of my housework during the week, so the weekends I can rest.

But anyway, we have been adding a few bushes and shrubs here and there over the last couple of years around our home. You know, a little landscaping and something pretty to look at. Well feast your eyes on this beauty! I found this rose bush. It's name is of course...."Falling In Love." Isn't that sweet? And isn't it just beautiful. My hubby planted it in our backyard. I just fell, in love, with the color! Pink isn't even my favorite color but WOW...just look at this rose! To me it's just breathe taking and the blooms are huge! Last night we got some rain (yay for our new plants!), so I took this picture of the rose with the raindrops on it. Just a reminder, you can click on the photo to enlarge.

It's so pretty. I also took a picture of another bloom, past full a couple days. But still beautiful.

And well this last picture is the rose my hubby and son cut off the rose bush in the front yard for me. My son came in on Saturday when my hubby and son were busy working in the yard and handed me this rose. When I was standing by my glass sliding door, I heard my husband ask my son, "What did she say?"

I found this poem on the Internet. I hope you like it.
What a Rose Can Say.....
A rose can say I love you
And want you to be mine,
A rose can say I thank you
For being so very kind,
A rose can say congratulations,
Whatever the occasion may be,
A rose can say I miss you
And wish you were here with me,
A rose cans say I'm sorry
If I hurt you in any way,
a rose can say get well soon,
May God bless you today?
A rose can say I wish you happiness,
And the best for you each day.
A rose can say farewell
When someone goes away,
A rose can say hello,
I'm thinking of you today,
there are just so many things
That a rose can say
A rose can say goodbye
When a loved one is laid to rest,
No matter what there is to say,
A rose can say it best. ♥

One Scoop or Two?

~~~~~~
I scream,
You scream,
We all scream,
For ice cream!
~~~~~~

Do you all remember that?

Yesterday I made these cupcake ice cream cones. I almost always make them around this time of year. My son and I brought them in for his classroom today for an end of the school year treat. And they are as yummy as they look!

The ones I took to my son's school looked a little better than this. I just whipped these up this morning to give you an idea of what they look like. There were some left over. Mmmm, lucky us!
Where did I get this cute idea? Well I had this next door neighbor when I was a child who loved to bake. And when there was a little cake batter left, she would pour the left over batter into ice cream cones and then pop em' into the "new microwaves" back in the day. They were huge microwaves back then. Then she would serve us kids these cupcake ice cream cone treats. But she didn't put any frosting on top. But I tell you, they were just as tasty!
So with your fresh brewed tea from the post below, now grab yourself a cupcake ice cream cone! One for you, one for me. Mmmm.......to friendship!
I'm wishing all of my friends a spectacular day!

Oh Darn.....It's Raining

This morning I looked out my window....it looks to be a rainy day. I see rain drops on my clothes line. Oh darn, looks like I won't be doing laundry today.

On rainy days, it's just so hard to get motivated. It's so darn hard to want to clean the house when the bright sun ain't shinin'.

Even this poor Robin just can't find any worms to eat....

Oh darn.....what's a girl to do here on Peek-A-Boo Street on days like today? (a sneaky grin with a raised eyebrow)
Well I'm going to pour me a big cup of some hot tea and start reading my new book and find me a comfy place to relax.

I bought me one of those big tea cups, like the one my daughter bought me for my birthday. I loved it so much, I couldn't resist picking this one up. It's so darn pretty.
Won't you please join me on this awfully rainy day here on Peek-A-Boo Street? Here bring your tea cup up closer, and I'll fix you up some nice hot tea. Would you like cream, sugar, or a squeeze of lemon? Now, all we need is a little treat to go along with it! Hmmm.
I hope you all are having a "miserable" rainy day like me to. Oh darn. I just hate rainy days. (wink*)
