We're all invited! Yah! Put on your best dressed clothes and your party hat and don't forget to grab your tea cup! We're all invited to join Carol/Mom @ http://charliandme.blogspot.com/ . Carol is premiering 'Tea and friendship Tuesday's,' today! It starts today! I'm so excited! I hope you all go over there with me to have some tea, delicious treats and of course for friendship. All Carol asks is that you write a post with the button and her blog link included. Then just leave a comment on her blog post so that she knows that you have joined in. That way she and anyone else can come visit your blog to read your post, and you can perhaps read others. You can write anything you'd like that relates to tea. Or take pictures. You can do tablescapes or just simply share a poem. You can find all the details on Carol's original post to help you get started. http://charliandme.blogspot.com/2009/03/tea-and-frienship-tuesdays.html .

I would like to share with all of you a special tea pot and tea cup. I know I've posted it up on my blog before but not for this post.
Carol, my Mom-In-Law (I hate that word because I really do think of her as a Mom,) Is the BEST mom-in-law a girl could ever have. I'm a lucky girl. I also have the BEST father-in-law to! I can't forget him! But any way last year for my birthday, they got me this tea pot and tea cup set. Isn't it beautiful! I haven't used it yet for fear of it getting broke but I'm thinking I will for my birthday this year. If you look real close you can tell that it has a hint of green to it. It's so pretty. I will cherish it forever. And I meant it when I told them that it was the best birthday gift I ever received.
Now I'm going to go over to Charli & Me to let Carol the host know, that I'm participating in her 'Tea and friendship Tuesday's!'
Today at noon when I sit and have my tea, I'll be sure to go around and check every ones blog out.

Muffins With My Tea

Today I wanted to make some type of treat to go along with my afternoon tea.

So I was thinking of muffins. Looked in the cupboard and there was some left over chocolate chips morsels from something I just made but can't remember. Do any of you remember something I made with chocolate chips on my blog? I hate it when I can't remember something. Also there was a recipe right next to it on apple cinnamon muffins. Yep, there were some apples left. I knew I had the cinnamon.

So I was good to go. I had all the ingredients in the house to make a couple of batches of muffins.

If a recipe calls to bake something for 20 to 25 minutes lets say, I'll always bake the recipe a little longer. Like the 25 minutes instead of the 20 minutes it calls for. That's just how my oven is. The recipe never gets done in the shortest amount of time it gives......until today when I decided to bake muffins! Ugh! The first batch of chocolate chip muffins got a little done but they were still eatable. The only thing I can think of was because maybe the muffin pan was darker than my other pans, I don't know.

So I baked my cinnamon apple muffins for twenty and they to got a little to dark but better than the first batch. I made a note of that in my cookbook for the next time I want to make up a batch of muffins. But both batches tasted very good. Here are some pictures for you.

~~~~~~
Then I drizzled some icing on top of the apple muffins. Mmmmm.
These two recipes came from my Betty Crocker cook book.
Ingredients;
3/4 cup milk (I used skim and it turned out fine)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg (When I cracked open my egg, this egg had two yolks in it. I never seen an egg like that before. I used both yolks and the recipe turned out fine)
2 cups all-purpose flour*
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
(1 cup of chocolate chip morsels)
or
(1 cup chopped peeled apple. About the medium apple)
Directions;
1. Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray muffin pan with oil.
2. In large bowl, beat milk, oil and egg with fork. Stir in flour, sugar, baking powder and salt all at once just until flour is moistened (batter will be lumpy). Fold in chocolate chips. Divide batter evenly among muffin cups.
3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
*If using self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt.
The recipe didn't call for the iced topping. I just did that myself because it sounded good. I kind of got the idea from my mom's apple scones. She had her scones topped with icing. I also shortened the recipe here as you all know I don't like to type up recipes but I did type up the important things for the recipe. I already ate three muffins and I haven't even gotten to my tea yet, ugh. No time now. I have to go pick up my boy from school. But everyone will love these when they come home from school and work tonight. I might not have enough for my tea tomorrow. Oh that's OK. I'll just have to bake more.
Why Stop There
Sorry I haven't written in a few days but I have been working on my latest project, fixing up my office.
So I suppose your still wondering why my hubby and I were out in the rain the other day?
Well.......I went back to the antique mall to look at an old rocking chair and decided not to get it. So since I was there I decided to browse around again through the isles........my eyes almost sprung out of my head and my chin almost hit the floor as I was coming up the isle and seen this beautiful desk!!!! It was from the 1940's!!!!! The wood is walnut and the tag said that all drawers worked. That's not the only thing the tag read. The asking price was $200.
So I thought, why stop at the china cabinet. Why not add an antique desk to my office.
So I talked it over with my hubby when he got home and he made arrangements to borrow one of his friends pick-up truck from work, the very next day.
So the next morning it was raining. But it stopped when my husband was able to leave work later that morning. But of course the rain picked up again when we were on our way to go pick up the antique dresser. We had brought some old blankets along. This time I had to help my husband get the dresser into the back of the truck. Of course it was raining pretty steady at that point. Then my hubby got a little upset with me. I told him that the desk was small and that it would be able to fit under that flat top cover thing you get for the back of pick-ups. He had a hard time unsnapping them to pull the cover at least, half way back. It was pouring rain at that point, in the winter, and with him just getting over from being sick. So I can't really blame him for being just a little upset with me. I did feel bad for him but I was in the rain to. Sorry honey. And thank you. =)
Well when we got it home, I noticed the top wasn't in the best shape. It had some water damage. It looked like a grandchild inherited this desk and used it for their house plants and let the water, damage the desk top. My dear husband said that he can re due the top surface for me. And guess what? He did! And he did an awesome job. Thanks honey. =) I wanted to take a before and after picture but I didn't have time. I was blogging when I heard this noise outside. My hubby was already sanding the top down. He's going to refinish just the top.
This is what I seen when I came to the window. The first sanding was already done.
Ugh. Don't mind my grass. It looks horrible at the end of the winter.
So this is what I've been doing these past few days. Trying to get my office back in order. You would not believe this beautiful huge desk that I gave up for this smaller desk. But I love it! ♥ And it's functional. It's not like it's sitting in the corner not being used. My big desk was shimmied down the hall to my little sons room. He's using it like an entertainment center. It has like all these little cubby holes along the hutch part of it. He filled it up with his kid stuff little boys like. Here's a pic of it. I know, I know I can here you already over here on Peek-A-Boo Street. The desk was huge and I do like it. But I just fell in ♥ with my 1940's desk! I'll do without the extra space for my new desk any day. And at least we did find a way for us to use the big desk. My seven year old just loves his set up. My husband says that he has the kind of t.v. that can be a monitor for a computer one day. All he needs is a keyboard.
And here are some pictures with the finished desk in my office. Again, if you click onto the picture it'll enlarge. Look at the top of the desk. Didn't my dear hubby do a fabulous job! Again, I wish I would have gotten a before pic with the water damage. It looks perfect. He's such a wonderful hubby.
~~~~~~~~~~

The lamp on the desk I also bought at the antique mall. That's another story. =) I still have to keep an eye out for an antique wooden chair to go with my desk.

I'm so happy that it all turned out so nice. Like I said before, I'm a lucky girl. ♥
Also I would like to one day get a comfy recliner in my office. It will be a place where I can work on my crocheting or do some reading in, while I'm sipping on some hot tea with one my teacups from my china cabinet. =)
I hope you all are having a fabulous week. Sorry this post is so long.
After we got home and put the desk onto the house, I went back outside to hold an umbrella over my hubby so he could snap up his friends truck cover. He was having such a hard time. We were completely soaked that day. That was the day I posted about having some hot tea and watching the movie, 'Strike Up the Band.'
OK. Well enough rambling.
I'm signing off..........from Peek-A-Boo Street.
P.S. All I need now (lol) is maybe a Fred Astaire poster with him dancing dressed with his top hat. Fred Astaire was the bomb! I love his movies and of course I just love how he danced. I always will watch a movie with him in it.

This and That

I do my grocery shopping at Meijers and I started to pick up some baby things for my 2nd grandson who will be here in nine weeks, my daughter informs me. I bought some onesies because there so practical for newborns and for the new moms. Took a few pic's.

This one speaks for itself. I'm sure all of us grannies can find a chuckle in this...sorry hon (daughter). =)

You can't really see the little red tag up on the chest, but it says, 'Ferociously Cute.'

And on the back there's an applique of a shark. Thought that was cute.

I have more things to get, but it's a start.
I posted about Quacker snacks before. While I was grocery shopping I seen these new Quacker snacks. It's tortilla's. I seen a cheese flavor. But when I seen a Zesty Guacamole flavor I put the cheese flavor down and grabbed for these. I loved them. They are so good. Off the subject but do you see my Easter table cloth? It looks so pretty don't it?
I've been craving popcorn lately for weeks now. I won't eat the microwave kind anymore because I'm watching what I eat, so about a year ago I started making popcorn the good ole' fashion way how my Dad use to make it. And man, every time I make it, I feel like a kid again. Just listen to it....can you hear it.......Doesn't that make you feel like a kid again! And ohhhh it smells soooooo good! Can't you smell it? I will add some salt and some melted Promise butter to it. Mmmmm. =)
All I need now is to put on an old movie. And dig in!

Good night fellow bloggers. And sleep tight.
I'm signing off (salute).......from Peek-A-Boo Street! =)

More Signs of Spring

These last few days I have been seeing Robins in our backyard. This is always a for sure sign of Spring here in Michigan. Spring officially begins today, yeah. Finally. It sure has been a long winter.
A squirrel peaking in my front window. I see them doing this all the time. I think they do this on purpose to tease my dog, Peeper.
Happy Spring! Yay, I'm so glad Spring has sprung! Wooo hoooo. Yippee!

Amber Alert Update

The Michigan Amber Alert has been canceled. They found the 15 year old boy and he is back at home safely.

The point of an Amber Alert is to get the news that a child has been abducted out quickly to the public.

A good example is that the other evening my husband was in the other room watching t.v. I was here in my office on my computer when my husband yelled out to me that there was an Amber Alert. I heard about a 15 year old boy being abducted and in a red car earlier that morning on my Amber Alert Ticker, here on my blog. I asked my husband if I was for a 15 year old boy in a red car and my husband said yes. Again, I had already knew about it from that morning by the Amber Alert Ticker that I have here on my blog.

I don't always watch t.v. in the morning. Sometimes I'll go right to my computer first. And it goes to show that this ticker on my blog is updated and on time. Because on the computer we all know that things aren't always updated.

So this Amber Alert Ticker that I have on my blog is great I think in getting the news out quickly. Whoever thought of putting an Amber Alert on our blogs was an awesome idea.

And thank goodness, that boy is home safe and sound.

The Goodbye Girl-Movie review

Today I watched the 1977 movie 'The Goodbye Girl.' I just absolutely loved it! I think I seen it as a kid but wanted to see it gain so I recorded it. And of course I just loved the song so I had to put that on my jukebox for a day or two. The movie had Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason in it. It was so good and a very nice romantic comedy. I even found the original movie clip to it on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mvM1x0EXGU. And of course I watched it from my favorite movie channel, Turner Classic Movies. Well I hope everyone is having a nice day and doing what they most enjoy doing. =)

Honey I'm Home~

(shaking my head......still shaking my head........yep........I'm still shaking my head.)
I'm sorry, but I told my hubby whom I love very much that this post would be about him. Ugh!!!!!!!
So let me paint this picture for my lady bloggy friends. Your not going to believe it. I bet your husbands don't even do this. My husband came home FROM work, yep FROM work with, with girl scout cookies. Yep you heard me right. With girl scout cookies. I know, I know. I can hear you all the way over here on Peek-A-Boo Street. Your probably wondering well what the heck is wrong with that. Bring your ears a little closer. Closer still.
My husband came home with three boxes of cookies. Yep three boxes. He supposedly ordered them from some guy at work for his daughter. This is what he ordered ladies. Get this. He brought home those coconut cookies, sugar free chocolate chip and some peanut butter cookies that tasted absolutely awful. Yep you heard me right ladies.
Can you believe it? I know, I'm still shaking my head.
For one I can't stand coconut. And if I was going to eat a chocolate chip cookie it sure the heck isn't going to be sugar free! Mmmhmm. I know, it leaves me speechless. He's my hubby though, what can I do but shake me head. I love him though. So I tried the peanut butter cookies. They were something awful (sorry girl scouters). The peanut butter tasted like whipped marshmallows that they called peanut butter. Ugh. Oh ladies, I sure hope your dear hubby's don't come home with awful cookies like that.
I told him, I have to post this on my blog. He said that the ladies would agree with him. He says I'm crazy and that everyone loves coconut girl scout cookies.
I told him we'll just have to wait and find out.
So come on ladies....sugar free chocolate chip cookies?! I mean come on. I like to watch what I'm eating but if I'm going to eat a cookie it sure the heck isn't going to be sugar free.
Ladies don't send your hubby's out to get cookies. This is a subject that they no NOTHING about! I love you dear, but your terrible at picking out cookies. Let me be the "cookie picking outer."
I don't know about you ladies but my hubby does not know how to pick out cookies! I'm sorry, I wanted to take pic's of the boxes but when I went back into the cupboard, two boxes were already gone. He said earlier that he couldn't believe that these cookies were still in the cupboard. Because cookies usually go fast at my house with the kids and all. I was just shaking my head dear bloggy friends. I know, it's just a sad story here on Peek-A-Boo Street. Ugh.
I know, I'm shaking my head to. Even when we go out to get icecream, he'll get parline's & cream. Who would get nuts on their ice cream. I can't stand nuts on ice cream. But he says it's the best. What a waste of an ice cream. But what can I do, I still love the guy. ♥ It's a good thing that I do the grocery shopping around here.

A Funny E-mail

My Mom/Carol sent me this funny e-mail and I just wanted to share it with all of you. Don't forget to read the end!

To my darling husband,
Before you return from your business trip I just want to let you know about the small accident I had with the pickup truck when I turned into the driveway.
Fortunately not too bad and I really didn't get hurt, so please don't worry too much about me.
I was coming home from Wal-Mart, and when I turned into the driveway I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake.
The garage door is slightly bent but the pickup fortunately came to a halt when it bumped into your car.
I am really sorry, but I know with your kind-hearted personality you will forgive me. You know how much I love you and care for you my sweetheart.
I am enclosing a picture for you.
I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again.
Your loving wife.XXX

P.S. Your girlfriend called.

I just thougt this e-mail was soooo funny. I hope you all got a laugh to. Thank's Mom.

I also want to wish all of my bloggy friends here in blogland a Happy St. Patrick's Day! Don't forget to wear green! If your going to out and have some of that green beer, please drink with caution. And don't drink and drive. Oh no bloggy friends, oh no! Take care.

Strike Up The Band ♪

Yesterday was a rainy day. My hubby and I got caught in the rain and we were pretty much soaked. Not a very good combo being still in the 30's around here. Plus my dear hubby is still sick. But anyway he had to go back to work.
So what did I do? I made me some hot tea, grabbed an afghan and watched an old movie. I love old movies. The one I watched was Strike Up The Band. It was filmed in 1940. It had Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland in it. It was a really good movie with all of life's lessons. I truly enjoyed it. Here is a clip of it that took place in the beginning of the movie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22HaLfHgnBI
Don't you just love Judy Garland's eyes? She's got the most beautiful eyes. I even think there prettier than Betty Davis' eyes. Betty Davis' eyes are kind of bugged out. And Mickey Rooney just had me laughing in some parts of the movie. He was so funny.
I just snuggled up with a warm cup of tea and enjoyed my movie. I even caught myself dozing off for a few seconds here and there. But I really enjoyed myself. Everyone was at school and work so the house was nice an quiet. =)
~~~~~
~~~~~

Instead of grabbing a cookie or something, I opted for some fresh raspberries. I ♥ raspberries. I think because we had a raspberry shrub in our backyard growing up and my Mom would bring some in for us to eat. They were so good. And there one of my favorite's to this day. ♥

Have a nice day.

Hello Anne,
We will occasionally send you news about changes and additions to http://codeamber.com/ . To remove yourself from future mailings,please use the link at the bottom of this message. Do not reply to this email.
****** Code Amber Transitions to Code Amber News Service - CANS***
It has been since October of last year that I have sent you news about Code Amber. At that time we were struggling through a very rough time.To those of you who helped us through, we extend our heartfelt thanks.
Well, we made it and things are looking very bright for our future. In December, Code Amber was acquired by GTX Corp. You may have seen reference to GTX on the web site. With the resources of GTX behind us,Code Amber moved into 2009 bigger and stronger with new initiatives and services to expand our reach and enhance our abilities to find missing children.
Our goal is simple, we intend to become the "better people finder".
The first new initiative was to create the "CANS Missing Endangered Alert"for missing children that do not meet the strict criteria for an Amber Alert.You have probably seen the two recent CANS alerts on your ticker. We work directly with the local Law Enforcement Agency to collect the data we need to stay up to date with developments in each case. Due to the huge number of missing children reports, we will need to be selective of the cases we publish.
Also, in addition to our current XML feed which distributes Amber Alerts only (the Code Amber News Feed), we will be creating a new CANS Feed that will distribute CANS Alerts for missing endangered children who's cases do not meet the criteria for official Amber Alerts. For more information on the CANS Feed please visit http://codeamber.com/xml_application.php . There is also a link on that page to a PDF document with a thorough explanation of the current feed. Watch for the introduction of our new CANS Alert feed later this month.
We also initiated a new page on the site to recognize Government Agencies at the Federal, State and local levels that run our Ticker or link to Code Amber.In the past few weeks, we have identified over 170 of them. We know there are many more. Help us by letting us know of other agencies that run the Ticker or link to us by contacting us through http://codeamber.com/index-6.php
If you are affiliated with any Federal, State or local agency, please encourage that agency to add the Code Amber Ticker, or a link, to their web site.Then let us know so we can provide a link back.The current list is located at http://codeamber.com/lelinks.php
Do you Twitter? Now you can follow Code Amber at twitter.com, user Code Amber.
Stay tuned for more new and innovative initiatives and services from Code Amber.
Without you, what we have accomplished thus far would not have been possible.
Sincerely,Bryant HarperFounderCodeAmber.com
************************************************************To remove your email address ( Anngunn90@gmail.com ) please visithttp://www.codeamber.org/remove.html Please do not reply to this email. We want your support, not your ire.
So there you have it bloggy friends. If you would like to put this Amber Alert ticker on your blog just follow my easy instructions. Personally, I do think this is the best widget that I have ever came across. And the most important one, for sure.

Oopsy Daisy! ☺

Dear readers I am sorry but I posted the last post on accident. It wasn't suppose to come out until tomorrow because I didn't want to write one long post. I didn't want to give my readers to much to read in one day. I seem to accidentally post my scheduled posts all the time for some reason. I don't usually schedule them but when I do, well there they are. They end up on my blog, lol! Well it's more cussing than laughter. ☺
But am waiting for an answer from the blog dr. He is just the greatest in getting you out of bloggy jams. His name is Vin and here's his blog link. http://www.blogdoctor.me/ He also answers questions at the Blogger Help Group. You can find that on your dashboard.

Well Hello Dolly!

Like I said in my last post, I just fell in love with this doll. ♥ She was in very well condition for only $20. To me she was well worth it. And I'm so glad I brought her home. Doesn't she look lovely just standing there by my china cabinet? It's like she's saying, "Okay, lets have some tea now."

Unfortunately she did not come with any papers. So I was thinking of a name for her. I thought about some names when I was pregnant with my youngest son. Some girl names that I chose in order of favorites were, Andrea, Veronica and Vanessa. I always loved that name Andrea. When my sister had her youngest daughter, I begged her, please name her Andrea. She said no! It was her kid, I guess she did have a choice in the matter, lol. So I'm going to name my doll, Veronica.

I am not a doll collector. I don't think she is of much value because she wouldn't have cost only $20. But it would have been nice to know the doll's name and who made her. I know that her limbs and face or breakable so I guess that would mean porcelain. She has real eye lashes on the top. She has a thick plastic cover that came with her. I can tell that someone had taken good care of her. Don't you just love to ponder who used these items in the past? To me it's so nice to think that maybe this doll belonged to a grandmother who cherished this little doll who's now in my possession. It's like she was taking good care of her for me. The stand that she came with did say King Dollcrafter. But I don't know if she is a King Dollcrafter, doll. I'd just like to know what her name was and who made her to I guess. Also I would like to know what year she was made. I'm guessing that she was made in the early 1990's. Probably 15 years old tops. But like I said, I'm not a doll collector and I really don't know to much about dolls. I'm guessing that either she's a newer doll or she isn't wearing the original outfit. Because I noticed the back of the dress had velcro on it. I did find a number on the back of the neck like all collector dolls have but no name of the company.

The only thing that I did not like was that it smelled old. So like all old things that come into my possession, I like to scrub it down! Do you think I should scrub this doll down? My mind got to thinking. How in the heck can I get this dolly freshened up? She needs a good ole' fashion scrub down! The wheels started to turn so I did some research on the Internet on how to go about cleaning collectible dolls.

I cleaned her from head to toe! I completely took off all of her clothes and hand washed them in cold, soapy water, except for the shoes. But I was thinking of washing the shoes but decided it wasn't a good idea to emerge them into the water. I rinsed the clothes and let them dry over night. I even washed the stand and the plastic cover that she came with.

In the meantime, I took a damp cloth and gently wiped her limbs and face. Then I took my vacuum....NO that's not a typo! I took my vacuum and attached the hose part and vacuumed the top of her head gently and the stuffed body part. Her curls were in perfect form when I bought her. It was like her hair had not been touched at all. Although I did notice that there was dried crazy glue on the top of the side of her hair. Like a flower was glued on there or something. That's another reason why I suspect that she is not wearing her original outfit. So I just sprayed conditioner on my hands and twirled her curls and they bounced right back into place, thank goodness. I didn't want to mess up her hair. It was so beautiful. I think I might have messed it up a little though. She had a hat on. Her hair was so pretty I was thinking I'd keep it off. But the hat did give her more character so I chose to put it back on lightly for now and not tied tight.

Next morning, I put everything back on her. And now look at her. She looks even more radiant doesn't she? I probably will put the plastic cover on her after I admire her a little longer. When I did research on collecting dolls, it said that the worst thing for dolls is dust and dirt.

The little tea table that she is standing on for now I didn't wash yet. I have to polish it up to. But I was thinking that maybe I'd paint it white in the spring and stencil some roses on both tiers. What do you think? I'll have to decide after I wash it, to see what kind of condition the tables in.

So do any of you collect dolls or would like to share us some pic's? I knew that I was going to do this post. But the yesterday I seen my friend Pat over at http://poshandtrendy.blogspot.com/ had a doll posted on her blog. You can check it out by clicking onto the above link. Also you can click onto my pictures and they will enlarge so that you can get a better view of Veronica.

Have a splendid day.

More Thrifty Finds

Earlier when I was up at the antique and craft mall, I seen some old dolls and antique doll high chairs. So I went back up to the antique mall to go and check them out again. Well I didn't really like any of them. Nothing really grabbed my eye until this baby popped out at me when I turned the corner of another booth. She was placed on the floor. She looked absolutely beautiful. It looked vintage and it looked like a child's face. I fell in love with everything this little doll had. Her dress. Her hair. Her porcelain face. Her eyes. There was not one thing about the doll that I did not like. The doll even came with a stand and thick plastic cover to protect her from dust. So now I just had to bend down to pick her up so that my granny eyes can check out the ole' price tag. $20.000000000.........................! I'm I reading that right? Is that $200 or $20 dollars? This beautiful doll was only $20!! I could not believe it! I knew I was taking her home!!!!!
Then I kept browsing around until I spotted this two tiered tea table. I've been in search for a little table for my office to go right along side my chair that I will hopefully get one day. This thing was $45. The price tag said "Firm" so you know the dealer wasn't going to budge on this. But something about it appealed to me so I picked that up to.
But for now, I'm using it to set my doll on it, next to the china cabinet. I still have to wash the little table down. It is dirty. My dear hubby thinks that the table wasn't a good deal. But oh well.
Anyway I took some pic's for you to see. I hope you find this little doll to be as beautiful as I did. I just completely fell in love with her. ♥ Click onto the pictures to get a better look.

A Chain Letter

My daughter sent me this chain letter via e-mail. I thought I'd share it with you.......

To realize
the value of a sister/brother,
ask someone who doesn't have one.

To realize
the value of ten years,
ask a newly divorced couple.

To realize
the value of four years,
ask a graduate.

To realize
the value of one year,
ask a student who
has failed a final exam.

To realize
the value of nine months,
ask a mother who gave birth to a stillborn.

To realize
the value of one week,
ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize
the value of a minute,
ask a person
who missed a train, bus or an airplane.

To realize
the value of one second,
ask a person who survived an accident.

Time waits for no one.

Treasure every moment you have.

You can treasure it even more when you share it with someone special.

To realize
the value of a friend or family member,
lose one.

Hold on tight to the ones you love!

One Pound At A Time

I still have been working out with Gilad on t.v. for a change instead of Denise Austin for now.
Boy I do have to tell you that Gilad is much tougher than Denise Austin's workout. I had to cut back a bit. I was only working out three days a week instead of five. But I'm up to four or five days a week. I'm just so sore the next day. But I'm trying to work up to my five days a week again.
Gilad uses more weight training and Denise Austin is more aerobics.
But I did manage to move up in my free weights. Two pound weights were getting to easy so I went up to Target and got me three pound weights and that seems to work better. I was going to get five pounds but thank goodness I had a flashback of beings sore and put those down and reached back for the three pounders. ☺ I don't want to be so sore where I'm not working out at all.
Gilad also uses those resistant bands in his show, so I got me some of those as well. I can't wait to use them. I did use the weights and they are perfect for me at this time. My goal is to get up to five pounds one day. Hey, it's nice to dream. I'm not quite were I want to be in my fitness journey but I'm better then where I was. ☺ I love that little saying. It just helps to keep me motivated.

My hubby has picked up with working out again. Good for you hubby! He's even lost some weight already. He goes out to a gym to work out. I just stay at home. I have no plans in leaving my house to go workout.
My teenage son is into fitness also. He used to be a little chubby when he was a kid but being pointed into the right direction by his pediatrician, he has no weight issues anymore. All the doc had to say was, "Kids are not the ones who do the grocery shopping." And that's all it took for me to get motivated. Also his doctor told me how obesity in children is on the rise and the health issues that come with children being over weight. I told my son and my hubby that this summer their going to have some "real" competition because I'm going to run with them also and their going to be eating my dust to keep up with me. ☺They just laughed. Their like, "Oh yeah right." But at first, before my hubby started to work out again, he told my teenage son, "I don't know, your Mom is in pretty good shape." Now they just laugh at me. I use to run on the tread mill like it was nothing for almost an hour. I use to go up to 6.0. like it was nothing. I better get my be hind back on the treadmill. Because it's on baby, it's on! Don't let that dust get into your eyes.
It's now March and I hope everyone is still sticking to their workout programs. Make it a lifetime change! If any of you want to come running with me, just meet over here on Peek-A-B00 Street and I'll show you the sights!
I'm signing off (huffing & puffing).............. from Peek-A-Boo Street! Okay well I'm not really huffing and puffing. ☺

My China Cabinet

So when I got my antique china cabinet home, I looked on the Internet to see how I would go about cleaning it.
It suggested to use dishwater with mild dish detergent. After you wipe down each section, it said to dry it thoroughly with a soft towel. You don't ever want to leave water on wood. I think we all know that. Then it suggested to use lemon oil with a few coats. I used only one coat. I thought it was fine. After a few hours I wiped down the excess oil. The next morning I wiped it off again with a clean soft towel.
I can really see a difference.
Before..............
And after..................
Also I took a pic with all of my tea cups inside the china cabinet. I still have to look around for some doilies though. I washed up all of my cups and placed them inside the china cabinet. I asked my husband if it looked like a granny's china cabinet. He said it did. Because that's what I want it to look like.
I think this will be so nice. I'll be able to pick and choose what tea cup I'd like to use for my afternoon tea. After that I'll just quickly wash everything and set it back into the china cabinet. I'll be able to choose a different tea cup ever day. I love tea time. ♥ It gives me a little while to take a break during a busy day. It's nice. ☺
I look forward to adding to my tea cup collection in the future.
I think that it would be neat for my grandchildren to remember my tea cup collection. "Remember grandma's tea cup collection?" Whether their boys or girls. They wouldn't be worth anything but maybe they would like to keep them in memory of me. That would be nice. Not that I'm planning on leaving any time soon, lol.
Last night my husband and I had a tea party for two. He's sick so he didn't mind. I asked if he wanted tea and he said that he would. So I made up a tray of tea. I bought a plastic tray to set my tea essentials on. Cups, tea pot, spoons, etc.
So we had a tea party for two. I even put honey on the tray for my hubby because he's still sick. He said he liked it all and wanted more tea tonight. So tonight we will be having another tea party for two. ♥
Well I hope you all are having a nice weekend. It rained all weekend here but that it fine with me. Think spring. Happy Lord's Day! ☺

Another Trip to the Antique Mall

So today I went back to the craft and antique mall. I wanted to look at this rocking chair again. But I decided that it wasn't what I was really looking for. So I left but it's still on my mind. I guess because it's old. I love old vintage things. But while I was there I picked me out another tea cup and saucer. When I got home I noticed a crack in the saucer. But this place has a no return policy. So I just have to live with the crack in the saucer. It just reminds me to look more closely next time. This one was only ten dollars also but who wants to buy something that is cracked. Here's a pic of the tea cup and saucer.

Then last night I finished up with dinner early so I decided to do a little shopping. I couldn't find any tea cups to add to my collection but I did find a teapot for everyday use. I don't want to use the one my Mother-In-Law (Mom) gave me all of the time because I just don't want to take the chance of it getting broke. But here is the one that I bought tonight for...$7.99 at Home Goods.
Isn't it cute with the crown on it?

Then I seen this plate to add to my dessert plate collection. My plate collection is very small. This is my third plate. It was only $3.99.
Isn't that dessert plate so pretty? I don't know if you can tell in the pic but the border kind of has a marble look to it. And the trimming is done in a gold color. I noticed that the items that I have been picking out has a floral motif to them. I guess that's what I'm leaning towards.
I know that it must look like I'm a material type of person with these last posts but I'm not. It will probably take me years to purchase an item as huge as my china cabinet. That's why I posted it. I guess because I'm proud of it.
Believe me, this blog isn't in the least about bragging. Like I said before...I'm a lucky girl. =)
Tomorrow I will show you my china cabinet with my tea cup collection in it. I also want to show you the before and after pictures since I cleaned and polished it up. Have a great evening.

An Award From Kathy

Thanks Kathy for thinking of me and my blog when you passed this award out to me. Kathy's talks about all kinds of stuff on her blog. She keeps us all entertained. Kathy you know we all love your blog. You can see her blog at http://katshappyathome.blogspot.com/.
To participate in this award, you have to name the person, and the link to their blog, in your post. You also have to list five addictions that you have. I also have to nominate five of my bloggy friends who I think have a fab blog.

So here is goes. A drum roll for myself this time, please. Thank you.

My five addictions. This is kind of hard for me because I'm not addicted to anything.
It's more or less things that I love. And that would be;

1. Blogging, blogging and blogging. Sometimes I tell myself that I need to get a life! I spend a lot of my time on the computer. To much time!

2. I ♥ a glass of red wine. Although since it's now Lent, Pinot Grigio is great w/ fish.

3. I ♥ to crochet, how could I be addicted to that? It's just apart of my life.

4. I ♥ my family. I'm really, really addicted to them. ☺

5. I'm totally addicted to my religion. I can never get enough of that.

So there you have it you all. My five addictions. Once again I will leave it up to my bloggy friends to decide for themselves if they would like to participate. I like leaving it up to them. It takes the pressure off of me and off of my bloggy friends. But yet I still participated.
Kathy I hope you don't mind that I took it upon myself to break the darn rules again, lol!
Thanks Kathy, for being such a fan of my blog!
I'm signing off...from Peek-A-Boo Street! Good night!
P.S. Ok, excuse me, but that frickin' music is bugging the h*ll out of me in the back ground. I had just about enough of this, lol!

Last Night's Dinner

Last night I made my own egg sandwiches with bagels for dinner. I just thought I'd share it with you all. I use Eggland's Best eggs. There less in fat grams and less cholesterol.
I cook up a dozen scrambled eggs first with thyme. I absolutely love that herb. It's one of my favorites. Then you just layer your square bagels. I start with a piece of ham on the bottom. Then I add the eggs on top of that. Then I put the slice of cheese on next and top it off with the top part of the bagel. I pop them in the oven on 350 degrees just as the cheese starts to melt, then I pull them out of the oven.
Then I usually pair it up with some cut up fruit and there you go. A quick and delicious dinner.
I use the 2 % cheese for this but it doesn't melt very good. It gets to thinned out. My family reminds me to use the regular cheese when I make this but I just forgot. I don't know if it's to healthy because of the eggs. But I only have eggs usually once a week. Eggs are a good source of protein so I don't want to eliminate them totally but in moderation eggs are fine, I think.

Sorry the bottom of the oven was a little dirty. My hubby did that when he made his appertizers from the Mardi Gras party.

There were no complaints of the little pudding pie desserts. Everyone loved them! My hubby suggested lemon pudding next time.
I must have woke up this morning in the south. My news man says it's going to be 64 degrees today! I can't believe it! Woo hoo! I will definitely have to step out of the house for awhile today. =) Happy Friday! Woo hoo it's the weekend! I love weekends! (sigh)

A Little Treat

My blogging friend Pat over at http://poshandtrendy.blogspot.com/ made pudding the other day which looked so yummy. I've decided to make these little pudding pies. Did you ever try them? There those individual Keebler graham cracker crusts. You could put anything in them. I usually put pudding though. I've made them with pistachio pudding before and they are so good. This time, for tonight I made them with banana cream. In fact I think that is the same pudding my friend Pat made to. You should check out her blog, she has a really nice blog. She shows you recipes, her sewing projects and her crocheting and knitting projects. She sure in as inspiration to any homemaker. I know she has inspired me to with her recipes and her projects that she has going on.
Now I just have to pop these into the fridge so that they can set. Don't they look yummy?

Well I did some research on the Internet and they said, to clean antique furniture, you want to wipe it down with a mild detergent soap to get all of the dust and grime off of it. Then dry it immediately with a soft towel. Then use a few coats of lemon oil. I used one coat and I think it's fine. I just have to polish up the glass and I'll be able to set my tea cups in there. I can't wait I'm so excited. I feel like a lucky girl! I think as a woman ages, she wants a china cabinet. Probably not so much in your twenties or thirties but after you mature some, I think every girl probably would like to have one. I hope you all have one or get one. =) Yeah, we all should post our china cabinets, lol. That would be interesting. I'll be turning 40 this spring so I guess I can say it's my 40th birthday present. It's beautiful and I just love it. I'm surrounded by boys and husband but even they came into my office and showed some interest in it. But I had to remind them to keep there mitts off of it. =) My hubby was already joking around spewing some things that he could use it for. Of course I said absolutely NOT!
I hope that you all are having a good week. It's been another busy week but I think things are winding down now for the weekend. My hubby and I are looking forward to a nice, quiet and relaxing weekend. Poor hubby has been sick with a sinus infection but he went to the docs and got some antibiotics. He says he's starting to feel better now.

I Got It!

Well I did not win the lottery last night....bummers. But when I woke up this morning I headed back up to that antique mall when it opened. I was pretty sure I was going to buy that china cabinet at that point. But I just wanted to make sure that I loved it the way I loved it the day before. Well I seen a few more nicks on it then I did yesterday. But I still was pretty sure I wanted to get it. So I paid for it and called up my hubby. He and one of his pals were able to leave work for about an hour and met me up at the antique mall. My husband's friend has a pick up truck. So after I paid....$420 (YIKES I could barely type that!!!!), my hubby and his friend loaded it up in the back of the pick up wrapped in old quilts. Then he was kind enough to help carry it into our home where I wanted it placed. Which is in my home office.
So here is a picture of it. I still have to wash it down and then oil it up. After that dries I'll be able to set some things inside. I'll definitely take a picture of it when I have it all cleaned and polished up with some things in it.
Can't you see how I fell in love with this china cabinet? I just think it's so beautiful. Okay now I have to go back to start saving my money again, lol!
There was a name plate inside the drawer that said Brickwede. I asked the lady at the antique mall and she said that this was probably bought from an estate sale from the dealer. There is no other history on the china cabinet. So where it came form or who it belonged to, I have no idea. I can't believe it's sitting in my home office!!! =) Okay I got to go. I have my grocery list to make up and then I'll have to clean the china cabinet later. I was suppose to do my shopping yesterday but my mind got so caught up in this china cabinet. If you click on the photo, it will enlarge.

Pretty Please With Sugar On Top

Today I stopped in this craft & antique mall that I have by my home. I did not find what I was looking for but I did see this pretty tea cup and saucer that I purchased to add to my tea cup collection. It was $10. It's a Bridal Rose print by Bavaria Schumann. I don't buy cups for the name though. I buy cups that I can afford and that I find to be pretty. After I came home and washed it up, I took a picture for you before I set it into my curio cabinet.

Boy that wasn't all I spotted at that craft mall. I got to looking and my eyes fell in love with this china cabinet. It would look so lovely in my home. I already know where I would put it. In my home office where it would be nice and safe and away from my rough housin' family. There all boys left at home. Yes I was including my husband. It would look so nice to set my tea cup collection in there. It's very antique but in perfect condition. Sorry I did not get a picture of it because I didn't think I'd need a camera. But I could set doilies in there and place my tea cups inside of there. There a two doors at the bottom that swing open for maybe my crochet afghans.
I've been saving some money for awhile now. And I hate to even type it out because of the bad economy right now and all. It was..................$398.00. That is a lot of money to me. But I loved it! Pretty please can I have that? Please? With sugar on it? Oh dear I'm in such a dilemma. I'm going to think this through over night. I would really like to get me a comfy chair for my office to though. Some place where I can read or do my crocheting. But don't forget, furniture wears out and gets old. And this things already old. Just had to add that in there. =) Oh dear I don't know what I want to do. Like I said, I need to think about it over night. I told my husband that this is what I think I want to get.
Well my dream might just come true. The Michigan Mega Million Lottery is up to 212 Million! I even went out and bought me $5 worth of tickets. So if I win...I won't have to worry about it. Sold!!!!!! I hope you all are having a nice afternoon. I'm signing off......from Peek-A-Boo Street!

The King! The King!

My Mardi Gras party last night was a smash hit! Everything seemed to move along nicely. We had the Mardi Gras music playing. I gave everyone some beads as they walked in. The Mardi Gras Madness punch seemed to be a big hit. It tasted really good. I didn't make it beforehand to pre-test the recipe but it tasted good. I forgot to make the ice ring to the morning of the party day. So it didn't freeze completely. We just kept putting ice cubes into it to keep it chilled. But I didn't want it to get like watered down. The punch was a little weak. Everyone loved all of the decorations. I had some fun facts about Mardi Gras that was passed around for everyone to read. We had some appetizers out and my mom-in-law brought some over as well.
Then after awhile everyone ate. Everyone said they liked the food. Which made me feel good.
After dinner I went over to the side to start cutting the King cake. I kid you not, I sliced into that round King cake 12 times and not once did my knife hit the King. As I was placing each piece onto the plates, I was looking for the King sticking out from somewhere...but no King was showing. I looked back over to the table to see the other cake to make sure I cut the right cake first. Yep I did. I cut the right cake. So I just told everyone to choose a piece of cake on the counter, even if they didn't want to have one because I wanted one of my guests to get the King. Well no one was saying that they had found the King! I thought what in the heck. There were three pieces of cake left and none of these pieces looked any different than the other. So I choose one and started to look for the King. I was in a panic and was wondering what in the heck was going on. And there was the King! In my piece of cake!!! Can you believe it? I'm the one who gets the King! I wanted one of my guests to. Not because of the tradition of who ever gets the King throws the next Mardi Gras party but I just wanted one of my guests to receive it. I still will probably host another Mardi Gras party next year. And then someone shouted out, "See it was meant for you to carry on with the Mardi Gras party." I truly did not know where that King was in that cake. And I was really surprised that I got it. Then after that the party continued and we all had a great time.
I just want to thank all of my guests for attending my first Mardi Gras party and showing there enthusiasm about it to. It makes you feel good because there is so much preparation for a party and you just hope that everyone has a good time. I think the party went good. I woke up this morning with a big smile on my face. And Mom, thank you for all of the goodies you brought over for the party! Thank you! I hope that everyone had a fun weekend. I had a party and now I'm off to church. It's the Lord's Day!
