My Long Lost Teddy Bear.....

Oh dear bloggy friends...I have been so upset. (Boo-hoo!) I have been looking for my lost teddy bear for days and I can't seem to find him. I haven't been wanting to post until I found him and I just can't seem to find him. I just can't seem to get him back. I looked and I searched every where on the net. You see I put a cute teddy bear with an animated candle that he was holding in the upper right hand corner of my blog for my Dad for a get well message and he disappeared. I've been looking for days. I haven't posted because I've been searching for my long lost bear. I really want him back. If you happen to find him some where on the net will you please tell me where he's at? I've been searching. I've been back tracking for days and nothing seems to come up. :-(

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to all my scady bloggy friends! Don't forget to stop at my house for trick or treating down on Peek-A-Boo Street!

Hail Storm in October

Hello, we got this huge hail storm here in Michigan this afternoon (Sun. Oct. 26). I don't know if I ever seen hail so big. Especially in October. We usually get hail storms in the spring and summer. There was even thunder and lightning and the whole nine yards. The winds were whipping and whirling and the leaves were blowing everywhere. So what did I do? Yep I ran into my office and quickly grabbed the camera. Michigan weather is very unpredictable. We're going to be going into the 20's over the next couple of nights and... :-) with a good chance of snow flurries through out the night but with no accumulation. I'm just getting so excited. For the people who read my blog know how much I just love snow and the winter season. And I just can't wait till we get our first snow storm. Here in Michigan it's top news when a snow storm is headed to the Great Lakes State. They'll talk about it a week before it gets here. My heart is just racing. I'm getting all giddy just thinking about it. I'm the one in the family jumping up and down saying "Oh my gosh were getting a snow storm!" Of course the more snow we are to get the more excited I get. If they say we're do to get ten to twelve inches then I will be all excited all week just with the anticipation of that snow storm. I'll be on the phone with all my pals and family just in sheer delight that we might be snowed in!! I know it's sounds crazy. Hopefully we'll get a lot of snow this winter. But in the mean time, (see I got off the beaten path a bit, lol) this hail storm will just have to do for now. Signing off...from Peek-A-Boo Steet!

A Family Get-Together

Yesterday evening my family and other family members was invited over to my Brother-In-Laws house. What a wonderful time we had. It was nice to see everybody again and just to connect with everyone again. They treated all of us to a Mexican Fiesta! We had tacos with every imaginable topping you could possibly add. The dinner also included some Spanish rice with a choice of hard or soft shell tacos. For appetizers they had corn chips and blue corn chips with their delicious cheese dip. They had some salsa out to. My Brother-in-law and his girlfriend went all out and I just want to say to both of them...thank you! We all had great conversation and we just enjoyed being together. They had a little fire going in their fireplace which made everything look so cozy. We of course had the Michigan v. Michigan State football game on to. We also came together because my father-in-law is going to have open heart surgery this up coming week and all of us felt it so important to be together to be supportive to our mom and dad. My Dad has to have three heart valves replaced with tissue valves. So may I ask of you all to pray for my Dad. That the Lord will guide the hands of the surgeons, that the surgery go fine and that he have a fast and full recovery. Could you please say prayers for my dad and mom both that God will give them the strength to get through this difficult time that they have to face. It's so hard to see the people you love so much to have to go through something so difficult. My mother and father-in-law are the best in-laws a girl can have.
So with that I don't know how much posting I'll be doing this up coming week. Because it's the (let's hear it)...Lord's day I will end this post with this prayer that comes to mind. May God bless you all and your families and I hope you all have a howling good week.

( I like to read this prayer slow)

Listen. Put it into your heart, my smallest child, that the thing that frightened you, the thing that afflicted you is nothing:
Do not let it disturb you...
Am I not here, I who am your mother?
Are you not under my shadow and protection?
Am I not the source of your joy?
Are you not in the hollow of my mantle,
in the crossing of my arms?
Do you need something more?

Blogging Addiction Test

Well you came to the right spot. So you wanna find out if it's true. You want to know for sure if you have a blogging addiction problem. Do you answer yes to any of these ten symptoms or questions that I have put together here to see if you are addicted to blogging? This is serious now. This is no laughing matter. :-) Please read the questions slowly and please be honest with yourself. Here is goes;

1. Are you finding out that your beautiful manicure isn't all that important to you anymore?

2. Are you finding that your really tired in the morning because you stayed up to late on your, you know, your computer?

3. When a family member is calling for you, do stop what your doing? Or do you say "One moment please, I just have to finish this comment (or post)," knowing full well that it could be longer than a moment?

4. Be truthful now. There is another word for writer's block. It's called the Bloggy Block Blues.

5. Do you find yourself pulling over to the side of the road to take a picture for your blog? Before blogging you wouldn't do anything to make an ass of yourself. But now that you've become a blogger, you don't care so much what other people think?

6. Do you find your always asking yourself, "Is this bloggy material?"

7. Do you find yourself laying awake late at night wondering what would be a good post?

8. Be honest here. Just how excited do you really get when you click on that "publish" button? Please, we all have to be honest here.

9. All you can think about is blogging?!

10. Do you find that your other projects or housework, etc. goes to the dogs and gets pushed back to the back burner because your blogging now takes top priority?

11. The first thing you ask people, "Do you blog?"

12. When your family members are telling you that there sick of hearing about your blog! Oops I went passed ten!

Sorry I hate to break the news to you but there is no cure for a "blog addiction." Only advice I can give to you is...do good things in moderation even if blogging is on the top of your list.

I hope this was helpful to all my blogger friends out there. Is there another question that you would like to add to the list? Please let us all know and please leave your comment. We would all love to hear them.

I'm signing off......from......Peek-A-Boo Street! Please take care! :-)

Pomegranates

Has anyone of my blogger friends out there ever try a pomegranate? I did once but never bought one for my family. Well as you might know, they are in season. My grocery store just got some here in Michigan. There in season from August till November and are very popular for people to have them in their home around the holidays.
So I thought I'd buy a couple for myself and for my family to try. Then the wheels started turning and I thought why not share this with my bloggy buddies.
I looked up on the Internet on how to slice a pomegranate. I did some research on them to. I also took some pictures for you.

How to slice & prepare your pomegranate;
-First wash the fruit of course.

-Put on apron and paper towels on cutting board. Pomegranate will stain and will not come out with bleach on anything! I cut one in 1/2 just to show you what it looks like inside. But do not cut it in 1/2.

-Use a sharp knife. The skin looks tough like a squash but you'll be surprised how easily a knife slices the fruit.
-You will slice a little off the top and the bottom of the fruit. With the fruit laying on it's side, you will carefully then score the skin from one end of the fruit to the other just until you get through the skin and into the white part just beneath the skin. You will score the fruit five times around one fruit. I could only find four sections in my fruit so I just put the fifth slice where I thought it should go. See pic...

-Then your going to put your pomegranate in a large bowl in your sink. Fill it with cold water. Let it sit for five to ten minutes.
-Then your going to start to break apart the wedges and start rubbing the seeds out with your thumbs. I was surprised again how easy it was to break apart the wedges. The seeds were pretty easy to get out but took a little time.

Make sure you rub the seeds out under the water though so the juice won't stain anything. As you can see in the photo, the seeds will sink to the bottom of the bowl and the pulp and skin will stay afloat on top of the water.

After your done with the seeds your going to use a very small strainer like the photo below to scoop up the white pulp and the skin out of the bowl and discard the fruit remnants.
Then your going to pour the water and the seeds into another colander. Rinse the seeds in the colander. Pick out any remaining white pulp. The pulp reminds me of a dry sponge, type texture. Then enjoy! You eat the whole seed. They look like little rubies.
Just some tidbits for you about the pomegranate fruit...
-It has three times more antioxidants than green tea and red wine.
-A pomegranate tree can live up to 100 years.
-Pomegranates is the oldest fruit in the world.
-Pomegranates are mentioned in the old testament in the book of Deuteronomy in the Holy Bible.
-Pomegranates holds different symbolism's in different religions. For Christianity you will find in religious paintings (by Sandro Botticelli & Leonardo da Vinci) Mother Mary or the Infant Jesus holding a pomegranate. In the paintings the skin of the fruit will be broken or bursting open which is suppose to symbolise Jesus' suffering and resurrection.
-Pomegranates are not that popular in America because people think that the fruit is to hard to eat.
-First records of the fruit date back to 100 B.C. where it was thought to be a native to Persia.
-Pomegranates keep your heart healthy. It's helps to prevent cancer. It also keeps platelets from clumping together to form dangerous blood clots.
So go and eat a pomegranate today! Signing off...from Peek-A-Boo Street. Good night, sleep tight, and don't let the bed bugs bite, sleep tight all right?

* * * Signs of Winter * * *

Good morning to all of my fellow blogger's ! What a beautiful morning we woke up to here in Michigan! The sky was so blue and there was a crispness in the air. It's really starting feel like the holidays are drawing nearer now. When I woke up this morning and seen the frost on the lawn, us Michiganders know that the fall celebrations and holiday are approaching slowly but surely. It's such a wonderful time of year. Looking ahead though, seeing the frost on the grass makes me get so excited about the winter to come because it's my FAVORITE season! I absolutely LOVE it! Especially when we get a lot of snow. I hope we do get a lot of snow this year. There are some Michiganders who don't like the winter because it can be brutal but I am getting so excited just talking about it! I've already posted today on the Lord's day so I'll schedule this post for Monday morning. Here are a few pic's for you. This is the same green grass you seen the other day with the mums.

Night Work- Book Review

I've just finished 'Night Work' by Steve Hamilton. It was a real suspenseful novel to the very end of the book and I mean right up to the last page. I've never read a book where it held your suspense all the way to the end of the book like that. I liked it better then the 'The Ruins' that I have read just recently.
I received my city paper last week and it was talking about a book I keep seeing, 'A Cold Day In Paradise.' I thought "What in the heck is with this book? It's showing up everywhere." Then I noticed the author Steve Hamilton. I was like, "I think that's the author of the book I'm reading right now." It was!
My city paper went on to say that Steve Hamilton's book, 'A Cold Day In Paradise' was going to be added to my local libraries book club. He is also making an appearance at my city's library. I thought that was pretty neat.
Apparently all of his books though are from a series. But the one that I just read, 'Night Work' isn't from the series. The author said that he was taking a break from the series when he wrote 'Night Work.'
I was going to read 'A Cold Day In Paradise' but I probably won't now that I know it's from a series. I don't always read so I don't know if I could commit to a series.
But it seems like I have been doing more reading lately. I just picked up Danielle Steel's book 'Amazing Grace' now in paperback. I can't wait to start reading that. She is one of my favorite authors. I do read a lot of her books and I've been trying to broaden my horizons with new authors. But when I was up at Barns & Noble and seen that there was only two of her books left...well of course I just couldn't resist! So what have you all been reading lately? Who is your favorite author? Leave me a comment, I would love to hear your replies. Oh by the way, if your interested in answering my poll, please scroll down a bit on the sidebar. Oh I also picked up National Geographic's for October. Does anyone read that? Happy reading!

~ A Stroll Through The Park ~

We woke up to a beautiful morning here in Michigan. The sun was shining bright on this lovely, chilly autumn day. So what did we do on this fine morning? Our family (Peeper went to this time) went for a stroll through the park. The sky was blue and the birds were singing. There was a crispness in the air. It was so refreshing...

This next one is my fav. My hubby and son are in it. Of course Peeper to but you can't see her.
Going, going, "Hey! Wait up!"

Have a nice day!

All By Myself!

This morning I went to church. No it is not the Lord's day but I do like to go more then just on Sunday during this time of year. When you take the kiddies on Sunday it can be hard to concentrate. When I go by myself I can really pay attention more, I think. You don't have to worry about what your 'little one' is doing. Don't get me wrong. I do like taking them but sometimes I need to go for myself, and to be by myself, so that I can learn to.
So after church the weather was so nice, I decided to go to Yates Cider Mill...ALL BY MYSELF! Yep! I went all by myself. Did I feel bad? No not in the least!! Because I have been there so many times with my family I decided to treat myself. But don't worry. I hooked them up with some goodies from the cider mill for them to have after school. :-) I think they'll forgive me.
But first I stopped at home to grab my camera so that I could take some pictures for all of my friends that stop in to see me here on Peek-A-Boo Street. See, I was thinking of all of you as well! :-) I hope you enjoy them. I also took a little video for you all to look at to. Have a beautiful autumn day! Today I think the pictures will speak for themselves...

*Sorry this post is a day late in posting but one of the videos was giving me a hard time to upload. It was the wheel going around. I really wanted to get that in. If I can ever get that to work, I will post it at a later date.
